Album artwork and the NAIM app.

Using my newly acquired NAC-N 272, I am disappointed that album artwork stored on my QNAP NAS doesn't show up on the NAIM app when I select uPnP.  The NAS runs Twonky media server and I edit the files with MP3tag editor.  It all worked perfectly with my Linn DS1 and the Kinsky app!  All the files are CD rips using Vortexbox.  I have a dedicated directory on the NAS for hi-res downloads and only a Linn Studiomaster download has displayed the artwork.  Two Hyperion hi-res downloads bring up the quaver symbol but not the album artwork!  Suggestions would be warmly appreciated!  Mike

If I were you, I'd buy Asset. It's a great upnp server, unlike Twonky, which is a pile of crap. If all your files have embedded artwork or the art in a folder.jpg file in each album's folder, the artwork will show fine.

You may try to reindex media files.

I ran Twonky for a couple of years in conjunction with a QNAP NAS. The rips were all done in DB Poweramp. The album artwork was always visible on the Naim app but was generally slightly fuzzy and not sharp, even though I always chose the highest resolution jpeg files at the time of ripping.  A few months ago I took the advice of a dealer and others on this forum and installed Asset. The improvement over Twonky is marked in every respect and the artwork is now pin sharp in the app. You can get a  free 30 day trial of Asset to see if it solves your problems before you buy.

Thanks Andrew and others for your responses and advice.  The decision has been made!  It has to be Asset for the NAS media server and dbpoweramp for CD ripping software.  And both, it seems, from the same stable.  Just hoping though that I don't have to start completely from scratch agin in preparing the NAS - I may re-rip some CDs but I've put in hundreds of hours editing the meta-data tags, especially for the classical files and they are at least, for the present acceptable quality listening via the NAC-N 272.

You won't need to start from scratch on the NAS, Asset will install and you will just need to tell it where your library is and it should index away.

TM,

Configuring the browse tree for Asset may seem a bit daunting at first sight. I'd suggest that you keep the number of options down to the basics e.g. Artist/Album, Album, Genre and Folder/File views but I'd also recommend the Playlists view which I find really useful.

You can always add extra views at a later date should you feel you need to.
