Bristol Show 2017
Posted by: RICHYH on 05 February 2017
Really looking forward to the Bristol Show this year and can't believe it's here again!!
Some really interesting things to look/listen to and meet up with the Naim personnel again!!
I'm looking forward to it too. All being well, I'll be there all weekend.
It will be interesting to see, what's on offer in the Naim demo room this time....
I'll dust my bus pass off I think Friday is old farts day?
Aiming for Saturday. Am thinking about cables to optimise.
Regards,
Lindsay
That's why I'm only there on the weekend PCD ![]()

Apparently on Fridays you can have free hire of a zimmer frame.....![]()
Damn. I am going on Saturday and with my arthritis in my knee playing up, I could have done with a zimmer.
Nigel - we must fix coffee. I'll e-mail mobile number.

I'll be there Friday - I'll strap my zimmer frame to the back of my motorbike.

What is everyone looking forward to seeing? I'll be taking a closer look at racks. I really must get one soon. I'd like to dip my toe into vinyl at some point this year, so some entry level turntables are on my list. I'm also keen to see the new Oppo in action if it's there.

Lindsay, it would be great to meet up with you at the show for a coffee. I'll give you a buzz on your mobile that Saturday.

As far as 'entry level' turntables my heart always goes out for REGA, especially with a factory-fitted cartridge.
Thanks for the tip Adam. Will hopefully find something to listen to

Funny you look like a Hollywood star. So do I! What are the chances? Just look out for George Clooney. That'll be me. ![]()
The Marriot in Bristol ...
I was in 2001 sent to a customer of my American employer (in that time) to install our new product to Manchester. When arrived in Manchester, the customer told me that I had to be in Bristol. So I travelled in the evening from Manchester to Bristol by train. I got to understand the UK railway system - a special experience. Of course I missed the connection in Birmingham and could only continue travelling to Bristol the day after.
When arrived at the customer, the software installation had to be on a complete different platform and not even Oracle was installed on Unix. Disks were not setup as well.
4 days later, it all worked. My first Oracle (8.1.7 it was) on unix install + third party software + our own software.
These are my memories of 3 nights in the Marriot in Bristol.
Nevertheless, it sounds a lot more enjoyable than attending a hifi show.

Funny 'ol place Brizzle, I used to go there a lot on business, its one of those towns that does not have a decent hotel (or at least not that I could find) I invariably stayed in Bath or a country house type hotel of which there are quite a few around. I also went to college there for a while back in the 60's & whilst its a bit short of nice hotels, it were gert lush for pubs & night life tho'.
I found Bristol too hilly with very poor pavements and rickety pathways everywhere. Will be tough on old legs and hips.
