What next?

Other than wanting an nDAC for the 4 optical ports, I don't know where else to go:

What is your budget?

I know nothing about vinyl so with that significant caveat my money would go on pre + power. This may be because I'm old fashioned. A 272 would probably be pretty good too-but pricey.

There are very significant bargains s/h to be had from good dealers that can be bought with confidence. I'd not change speakers myself without more investment 'up front'.

upgrade you amp as much as your budget can stand. Thats an RP6 you have there

Depends on your source preference and budget. First step pre/amp though. If funds allow maybe a PS on the Stageline. If your preference is digital (don't know your source) the nDAC , but it needs a PS to shine IMO.

Hi,

Depending upon the space available I would listen to some speakers from Neat, Kudos or indeed Rega.

The rest looks pretty good to me - the Rega RP10 is superb but I'd look at the speakers first.

yo Snaic-

i went from Nait 5 to SN1/Hicap to 282/Hicap/250 -- had i to do it over again, i'd skip the SN and go right to the pre/power.

if you can spring for a used 282/200, i think you'd be amazed at the improvement. then, i'd listen to a few different phono stages. i've had Stagelines for years, but reluctantly concluded that they're quite "meh". i have a Dynavector P75 and found it brought quite a bit of sparkle to the proceedings. other stages that are reputedly good are the Rega Aria (if you're thinking of doing an RP10/Apheta at some point, this would be a sensible route) and the Heed Quasar. i've heard folks wax rhapsodic about the Tron Convergence, but tough to audition in the States. i may try at some point, though!

What (part of the sound) are you looking to change. Are you equally happy with the sound from both of your main sources? Does one source get used much more of the time? Do you want to improve both or just one . spend on source if one is significantly "better" than the other. Usually the most dramatic change can be brought about by speaker changes. First, you really have to define what you want to change/improve. Ask that and then answers can follow.Your original question is really just asking how much of your money others will help you spend

nDAC seems to be the next step indeed for HD demat even if rDAC has a really great VFM. Add ND5 if streaming is of real interest and/or XP5 or XPS2 on nDAC at a later stage, before or after upgrading to SN2, or even better, 282/250. Always skip a rung on the upgrading ladder for greater VFM in the long run.  :)

Why the four TOSLINKs? The 75Ω BNC is so much better.  :/

I have three digital sources, all far away from the system; it's a pain to manually switch the DAC all the time and the TV does not benefit from the DAC and amplifier, only the Oppo does.  There may be a way to configure the audio of the TV into the Oppo and then out to the Rega DAC.  Wife loves movies and TV through the Oppo, want it from the TV as well.  3rd source is computer.

I am more of a vinyl user, but do use the DAC for gaming and occasional long play situations like sleeping music, etc.

Main concern with system is my volume is always at 12 O'clock...rarely at 9 except late at night when in bed.  The amp is older and may be fading, or the cartridge maybe...but I've been told to get a hicap on the stageline before.  The system doesn't feel like it has much power behind it at all, its sweet when I can hear it quietly at night.  Looking for more warmth and power.  I've thought of 282/250 or 202/200...or even old separates.

I understand SNAIC. All I can write is that a S/H nDAC is a steal. Firmware update to v4.11.8 works like a charm to what seems to be a sweeter and even more organic presentation. Ice on the cake is DSD64 replay. Welcome to HD demat still. Your day will come. It is just a matter of time.  :hehe:

SITG,

Your room is rather large, so greater amplification might be the key as you say. I thought your Credos worked well in the room against the brick wall. Maybe demo some more watts behind them? That would enhance your lower volume listening as well.

How about some SL2s, I can see a 2k pair for sale and never have to worry about that part of your system again.
