Labour ?

I am of no political persuasion, i am very distrusting of politicians in general and promises they make and break.
But in my humble opinion, the country needs an effective opposition party?
But in my memory, i can not recall a time when the Labour party has been in such a decline.
Does Mr Corbyn actually know what he is doing and what is best for his party?
Does he still have the support of long term labour members?
Will the labour party ever again become an effective opposition, let alone lead the country again?
With some crucial by elections coming up, it will be interesting to see what happens?
Any thoughts?
TOBYJUG,
You aren't Russian by any chance?
I would like to remind the members here that in spite of each having differing views on politics, please remain civil towards each other in your postings. Thank you.

yawn250505,
You have just very adequately described the vast majority of your own posts - invective, and absolutely nothing in the form of an educated debate.
There are others on the right wing of the Tory side who (although it pains me to admit it) do engage in meaningful debate. You are not one of them.
Perhaps your forum name gives away your inclination to find anything that contains more than one or two syllables "so boring and pointless ..." .
I have to admit to reading "yawn's" avatar as yawn, simply because that's the effect his posts have on me when I can be bothered to read them.
Even the "miracle of Instanbul" would be hard pushed to outdo "yawn's" transformation were he to engage meaningfully even in just one single post !
Q. What margin of Tory majority would trigger a labour leadership contest?
I'd also suggest the LDs might lose 'nice but Tim' but they may only be 2-3 LD Mps to chose from which may be tricky!
They did not even field a candidate in my constituency

Essentially here it's a binary choice... perhaps they should just save their money!
I'm going to listen to some music.whoever wins or looses.I would hope you all do too.

Yep, will do.
If the Tories lose, probably Ombelico Del Mondo by Jovanotti.
If the Tories win, probably Dear Slum Landlord by Napalm Death.
I've seen both of them performed live!
If labour win.
Whatever happens...

Ha, strange coincidence! I've seen Napalm hundreds of times (figuratively, if not literally), but never Jovanotti. Any good?

Maybe he's a Tory supporter. If he indeed is and he decides to try and engage in debate he will in effect be hanging himself on this forum.
Please try and not be so rude. It's all a bit personal and pathetic.
Blimey! First reveal of exit polls predict only 314 seats for the Conservatives.
Exit poll... Conservatives largest party, but may be short of majority.
If the outcome is similar to the Exit Poll, I recommend we put "Brexit on Hold" until we sort ourselves out !
Whatever that means !
Astonishing start to the coverage.
Obviously despite being the work of very well respected experts, it's still only an exit poll. I do expect it'll turn out to be inaccurate & I'm still anticipating a Tory win.
But nonetheless, it's going to be an interesting night with that start.

Almost more exiting than the Eurovision voting !
or Strictly semi-finals............
First results from Newcastle and Sunderland suggest Exit Poll might have underestimated Conservative share of the vote.

They always do, no one wants to admit voting Tory, but with luck they will lose their majority, Sadly JC will probably survive despite not doing better in the face of the worse Tory manifesto and campaign in living memory

I had presumed that Exit Polls took that sort of thing into account, i.e. In those two seats the Exit pollsters would adjust their Conservative count UP and their Labour count DOWN. ?
perhaps not !
I noticed on the scrolling line on BBC that the exit poll was on about 34,000 people. With 650 seats, that averages about 53 people per seat, spread around several polling stations each time. I hear it's all very scientifically worked out beforehand but it does seem open to errors!
Some early suggestions that the % of young voters has risen, if that is the case then I am delighted and see that as a real positive from the Brexit vote process when they were so disappointed after, by and large, not bothering to vote. If the demographic has changed then that makes things interesting in future especially with labour blatantly trying to buy their votes with the tuition fee announcements. JC does seem to be popular with young people
