Tidal and the iPhone
Posted by: DanT87 on 16 February 2017
Hello everyone,
Apoligies in advance if this has been asked before, I did search but couldn't see a definitive answer on the subject.
Currently using my iPhone and Tidal HiFi I download music to an offline playlist in Tidal HiFi subscription.
In light of me seeing that Tidal masters has come out on the desktop app only at the moment it prompted me to think, is the iPhone lightning port capable of outputting 24/192? Is it even capable of outputting 16/44?
I know there is an opinion out there that MQA will be short lived but I would like to understand the above none the less as say in future the iPhone Tidal app supported 24/192, it would be pointless if the lightning port couldn't handle it...for example. Or is it infact all done within the app and the lightning port just outputs what ever is thrown at it?
One thing I have noticed is that when I currently play Tidal HiFi through my lightning port on iPhone into the camera connection kit and into a chord usb lead to my DAC V1, the volume control on the iPhone totally dissapears which I think is a good thing?
Thanks.
