iso > flac on a US
Posted by: Richard Morris on 17 February 2017
I opened an iso using JRiver Media Centre 22 and converted the files to flac. These were moved into the US download folder. I can see the files in the Naim app but get the message 'can't play, track skipped'. Any ideas?
What are you streaming the files into? Are the files on the US's internal hard-drive or a NAS?
Have you tried playing the flacs another way, for example from a USB stick plugged into your Naim streamer? (If you have one of those of course).

Files are on the US internal drive, in the Downloads folder. Playing the files into a Mu-so.
I'll try the USB suggestion.
Yes I saw they were in your US downloads folder, but what I was getting at was to suggest you check whether the flacs are playable by your muso with both the US and your network taken out of the equation!

When I used to load iso files into JRiver on my PC, JRiver would show the individual tracks as dsf files. I assume you have double checked that JRiver converted your files to flac and not to dsf format.
Other than that, what bit/sample rate are the flac files?
Trying to play the files from a USB into a Mu-so results in 'unsupported file format'.
Trying to play from a USB docked in the US into the Mu-so (hard wired) says 'can't play'.
The files are labelled as .flac. The files play on a Mac Book using VLC or VOX.
VOX reports FLAC/24bit/4665kbps/352.8kHz

That's your problem. Max for muso is 24 bit 192 kHz I think.

Suggest you redo the conversion to FLAC at 24 bit and 176.4 kHz sample rate to keep the maths simple.
Thanks both. Conversion redone - now plays.

What format were the original files?
I don't think that JRiver can handle DVD isos so I'd guess that the OP had an SACD iso file which JRiver would show as individual dsf files prior to conversion to FLAC. This is certainly suggested by initial conversion sample rate.
