A new mains block?

Posted by: Mike Kent on 19 February 2017

I see that Naim retailer Tom Tom Audio (one of the very best Naim dealers in my view)  is singing the virtues of a new mains block with six outlets, saying it's the best block they've ever heard with Naim equipment. Not very expensive, either. I have to use a six way block so am considering the purchase. Anyone tried it yet?

If you go to Tom Tom to audition, I strongly advise you to listen to the Powerigel as well (assuming they still sell them - I bought mine from them). It remains the best mains block I have heard to date.

How about the Powerigel  Plus then? It may be interesting to know the latest views on it. Several of us have so many PLs that it may not hurt them that much to trade them in for this very special mains block. :cote:

Chag -

I've only heard good things by report but not had an opportunity to listen. FWIW my Powerigel has outperformed various high-end mains blocks not just with my Naim 500 system, but with top-flight Rega and Tom Evans gear as well.

Couple of years ago I got myself a Blacknoise Eight. No filtering, star wired internally, heavy and over the top build quality. The latter is one of the aspects I really like of Naim Classic line boxes too.

The block just works. Did it improve sound? Don't know and don't care really, I like the better engineered stuff.
