After England's dismal performance in India, it's good to see the Aussies showing everybody how to win on the sub-continent.
Using playing against India in India as a common opponent just shows the difference between the two teams and it was right for Cook to relinquish the captaincy ahead of the Ashes.
lots of hard work ahead for Root and co, I hope he brings in some sense of adventure and urgency.

A stunning result by the Aussies, particularly given the contrasting form of the two sides going into the game. I wonder whether India under-estimated the Aussies. Always a dangerous thing to do. It will be interesting to see what India do in the second test.

All square now and getting seriously feisty. The 'cheat' word being used about the Aussies; Steve Smith actually accepting he looked to the dressing room for an indication of wether to ask for DRS decision, and maybe others doing the same. Not pleasant. I think the sledging (from both sides) has been pretty nasty too.
I would still expect India to win the series, and also that this does not really tell us much about the Ashes winter. Apart from the fact that Aussie cricket will not be any easier to like!

A good, competitive series unlike our efforts there earlier in the year.
I think the Aussies are at heir best when the game becomes gladiatorial.
All handshakes at the end which was nice to see.
