Naim Uniti Star or Nova and turntable

Posted by: Woj on 26 February 2017

Hello,

I have Naim Uniti (the orginal) and I am using it with Naim StageLine. I connect it via Snaic 5 cable. Does anyone of you know if the new range (Star, Nova) will be able to accomodate StageLine in a same way as the current Uniti? I know that I can always buy a different phono stage and connect it via 'normal' analogue input but this would mean that my PhonoStage would become obsolete.

If you look at pictures of the rear panels, they don't appear to have the necessary powered din sockets.

The Superuniti doesn't have a powered din socket (as I found to my cost and annoyance when I upgraded from Uniti to SU). I'm pretty sure the Nova won't either. I use a cheap 3rd party power supply with my Stageline. Naim used to do the Isupply but discontinued it - they do come up S/H occasionally in the usual places. £50 or so should sort it ; worth it to keep the Stageline.

Thanks to You both. This is shame as turntables are more and more popular. PEV, what cable(s) do you use to power the StageLine and to to send the sound signal to the SuperUniti?

Hi Woj - phono to BNC into the Stageline from the turntable; din to din from power supply to the Stageline; then din to din from Stageline to the SU. Just plug and play.

All the cables are basic as supplied - nothing fancy or expensive. If you are already using a Stageline into your Uniti you shouldn't have to buy any as any power supply should come with the correct cable to power the Stageline - just tell the supplier what you are using it for when you order. I can't be more specific due to forum rules.
