Proper connection of HiCap DR

Posted by: jdawg on 02 March 2017

greetings, long time Naim owner, first time posting...

i bought a used SuperNait 2 and love it.  This week got a barely used HiCap DR.  Before I add it into my system and power it up, I want to make sure I am connecting it correctly.  I have seen some diagrams but as usual with Naim manuals, really not sure what is correct.  Any advice would be appreciated.  Jd

Well that was complicated wasn't it.  If it's any comfort once you do get your Snaics 4 and Snaics 5 it will sound great.  I love my Hicap Dr on my SN2 and wouldn't be without it.  Even though it is in the manual I don't blame you for asking, better safe than sorry and it does no harm.  Have fun

From the OP here, wow!  Thanks everyone, can't imagine the thread when I ask a hard question instead of a basic one!  I look forward to hook up, run in and listening.  Jd

Looking forward to your impressions about how the HCDR changes your SN2.

I got a 4 cable.  Listening right now.  So far, much better separation, and overall it's like before there was a wall of chicken wire pulled across the sound field,  and now it's gone.

Excellent live recordings of the "unplugged" variety have thicker, more detailed base where you can hear the strings being plucked.

Amazing too how it exposes lousy CD recordings, such as my very old disc of Traffic: When the Eagle Flies, I wonder who was playing the Hiss machine in the band...

Later this weekend will move to vinyl tests.  Thanks all...
