Hi,

New to here ordered a Naim CD5si from my dealer in uk about a week ago, any idea on how long the average wait is these days?.

looking forward to my first Naim product, future plans for main room will be a CD5xs, with a Niam pre amp and power amp set up.

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the Forum, the CD5si is an excellent bit of kit.

When I first entered the Naim world I purchased the same black box. As to delivery time, it should be relatively quick, although your dealer is best placed to answer that question .

I'm sure you will be very happy with your set up...

A lot depends on whether Naim have some made and ready on the shelf. When I ordered my XPS it was delivered the next day, yet other things can take quite a while, particularly if Naim are waiting for a supplier to deliver parts. As Wenger rightly says, your dealer should be able to find out for you.

I have a 552 on order. It's probably getting on for a month now since the order was put in and the estimate from Naim was early march so I might get a call this coming week.

I'm putting in the hours at work giving my bank balance a nice buffer for when the painful bit happens so I'm not too impatient and I like to think the longer it takes the more care they're putting into my nice new preamp.

I'm in the States, I had mine within a week, purchased mine in 2016, the US distributer must have some on hand for me to get it as quick as I did. I don't think CD players are in high demand these days with streaming all the rage, a shame really because the player sounds  great.

I think you will enjoy it very much. I think people are missing out on really fine sounds when they abandoned their CD players for the streaming format.  Congratulations on a fine player.

Seem a bit silly to me you are purchasing a brandnew cd5si just to expect getting it replaced soon with a cd5xs.

Have you viewed second hand prices ? you will face a substancial loss of money

I'd get the xs player, s/h if not cash to purchase new

I read that quite differently: he is first getting the cd5si then adding an entire new system, including a cd5xs, for his living room... Not silly, great rather! Best wishes with the new toys!!

my dealer is unsure

If your dealer has no clue, he could give Naim sales a quick ring, or drop sales a quick email. I would expect a dealer to do this -- customer service! You purchase a premium product!!

Hamish, I think you should be looking at around three or four weeks I ordered a new system this time last year this took twelve weeks but was due to a component supply problem in the 250dr as ordered

Just upgraded to a 300dr this was installed just a shade over four weeks from the order date which my dealer said is around the normal time scale.

Enjoy your new kit.

I was lucky with my 272, it took just eight days.

Hi all,

3 weeks to the day on Friday, Wow what can i say i'm blown away by the sound quality and build.

I know the CD5si is a starting point but i'm amazed straight out the box i love the Naim sound.

I had a Creek before this and a Nad C541i over the years but this is a whole new ball game.

The Narcom 5 remote is in it's own class a heavy real feel to it, reminds me of a bang and olufsen remote back in the day.

The packing was the best i have seen in a long time well thought out even an outer box.

Defo more Naim products to be had now

Question do you guys leave these units powered up or turn off after every use? I have it through a good A/S power board to protect.

My main room will have the Pre amp and Power Amp XS /  flat cap power supply, later in the year and the CD5 xs

Congratulations on your purchase. It's  always best to leave powered on, unless a storm is brewing...

Hi, wenger2015

So should i leave powered on but display off as will not display running all time ware the display out quicker over time?

many thanks

That's what I'd do. You'd do well to take it off the antisurge block, as that will make it sound worse.

Yes, power on and display off,  and no power board.
