What next?!

Hello everyone! I am new to the forum

I have been getting back into my hi-fi lately - my set up is Naim Nait 3 (recently serviced), Naim CD 5i, Rega Planar 3.  It's a simple set up and I kinda like it that way.

I have a little money to spend (up to £500 ish) so I am wondering where to make an upgrade.  I am thinking possibly my amp.  A couple of people suggested a Flatcap - but would this be ok on the 5i?   Not sure how power/pre amps etc really work, so feel free to educate me!! Or would money be better spent on a 2nd hand Nait 5i?

Hope someone can help point me in the right direction

£500 sounds a nice amount to spend on records / CDs

It does - and it is tempting but I have a huge back catalogue of stuff to get through as it is.

The Flat cap won't work with the CD5i so no point going down that avenue. Worth getting the kit on a decent stand if you haven't done this already and have suitable lengths of NAC-A5 to your speakers (what are they ?) - just simple things to get the most out of your kit.

If you enjoy what it does and want to keep it simple then i'd leave it alone and keep the money for something else

Hey James, Thanks.  I have Wilmslow Audio HB1s with A5 cable.  All on good stand already I just wondered if the Nait 5i would be a worthy upgrade......May just go ahead and buy more vinyl afterall!! Can never have too much

The Nait 5i is good but it would be more of a sideways move from what you have. Funnily enough i was looking at the WA site the other day and saw the 'new' HB1. I remember auditioning the original Heybrook version in the 80's so it was good to see them back. A sealed box with a decently large (8" ?) driver always seemed a good idea

Yeah, they're amazing. Eveything is nicely balanced with them. Had Linn Index before  (passed down from my Dad).  They've been a huge improvement to my system.  Thanks so much for the advice. Will stick with what I have and stop looking at new boxes!!

Allready a great budget friendly setup, I bet such TT replay is much more fun than most streaming out there

Refreshing reading among all those 552 272 250 DR usually rambling in here

Maybe ad a wallshelf for TT, new cartridge or a rack for the amp/cd

Better mains perhaps

Thanks B-Lund I bought a glass suspension shelf for the TT.  It is a beautiful bit of kit and really shows the deck off well My hubby had a breakdown whilst trying to get it level, but it has made a big difference to the sound!  I've been overwhelmed by the difference good racks/stands etc do make.  With better mains, what would you suggest?
