Prefix - HiCap - Nac 72 - Nap 140 connection

Posted by: Eisch on 15 March 2017

I've got Prefix K for Lyra Helikon at LP12.
I would like to connect Prefix to my 72/140/HiCap (#91481), but not sure how to.
Please let me know whether below connection configuration is right or not. If wrong, please let me know the right one. Thank you.

Would I be right in thinking that you only have one HiCap, and you're planning to connect the same HiCap to the 140, 72 and the prefix?  If so that won't work.

As Huge implies above, you'll need another Hicap.  Hopefully you still have the 4-5 interconnect that came with your Prefix, otherwise you'll need one of those as well.

Oh, I should find out HiCap in good condition. Thank you for the replies.

Hi,

while it will not sound as good as a setup with two HiCaps, it should be possible to use your existing HiCap for the Prefix and to power the 72 from the 140.

True, but a bit of a backwards step.

In conclusion,

1. In case of only one HiCap,

  • HiCap #4 (5 pin DIN) --- Prefix (5 pin DIN)
  • Prefix (4 pin DIN) --- 72 (5 pin DIN)
  • 72 (4 pin DIN) --- 140 (4 pin DIN)

2. In case of two HiCaps,

  • Prefix (5 pin DIN) ---  first HiCap #4 (5 pin DIN)
  • Prefix (4 pin DIN) --- 72 (source 5 pin DIN)
  • 72 (5 pin DIN) --- second HiCap #4 (5 pin DIN)
  • second HiCap #2 (4 pin DIN) --- 140 (4 pin DIN)

Am I right?

Thank you very much for the help!

Option 1- You connect from the prefix Hicap to the 72. That's probably what you mean.

In option 2 you'd connect the prefix to the Hicap, and that hicap to the 72, as with option 1. You'd ideally connect the 72's Hicap to the 140 using socket 3.
