Naim Uniti2 remote control codes for samsung tv remote

Posted by: unicorn855 on 18 March 2017

Dear all,

i have been wondering if it's possible to teach the samsung tv remote to change the volume on my uniti2? When I handle the samsung remote to switch channels, it would be nice to be able to also change the volume with the same thing :-)

Also, doesn't the uniti2 store the volume for each input seperately? I can't seem to make it do that yet, what do I need to do for it to remember so I don't fall off my couch when switching from a low to a high level source :-) ?

thanks for taking the time to read this

Sophie, it's possible if  your Samsung remote control has a learning facility to operate other devices.

The other alternative is to use a universal remote that can control both the Samsung TV and the Uniti2, and any other remote control devices you may have such as DVD/Blu-ray etc..  There are plenty of these Universal remotes out there, some basic, others very sophisticated.  Main thing is to spend the time and effort to set them up right from the start.

Oh, and in the setup menu for each input there is an input trim option which gives a + or - 10dB adjustment for level.

Thank you but I meant if for example I have the tv input set to 20 and then I switch to internet radio (which used to be set to, say, 5 before), isn't there a way to make the uniti2 "remember" what volume level each input was set to before switching inputs?

I just checked the model number of my samsung TV, it's a UE40ES7090, but the manual isn't very helpful about remote control codes, the tv remote does however have dedicated buttons at the bottom for various input sources, so I suppose there is some way to convince it to talk to other devices, however, Samsung does not document this  very well :/

anyway, thanks for tending to my issue

have a lovely weekend

Sophie, the input trim allows you to adjust all inputs so they are at a similar level. That way one volume level setting on the main volume control should be fine regardless of source and won't in theory mean you'll move from a quiet source to a loud one and have your ears blasted.  The problem of course is TV and radio where different stations output at different levels - for example on radio, the difference in perceived level between say Radio 3 and Radio 1 can be quite substantial.

Right, then I'll play around with different levels, makes sense actually is there a place I could find the remote control codes for the uniti2 by the way?
