Based on my experience with a CD5X I'd say NO, a clunk is not normal and might be a sign for maintenance.

Maybe time to get the drawer aligned or inspect your puck.

Hi,

Its new hard to describe as if when the sled returns home to rest /stop makes a tap or clunk perhaps the word clunk is wrong.

It does sound like something has worn/about to fail in the servo mechanism... unless you can live with it until it fails, best send for a service...

Naim's advice regarding servicing CD player seems to be only to send them if absolutely necessary, due to the risk of damage in transit. Maybe give their service department a call first and see what they say. Alternatively, if you are anywhere near Sheffield, you could take it yourself and get it sorted out by Class A, who are Naim authorised service agents.

Are you saying the clunk is new or the player is new?

Hi, All the unit is 3 days old it plays perfect prog searches skips tracks all good,

Just when it ends the last track slight spin sound normal, then like one slight click as though a break applied to stop disc spinning.

It's under G/tee so i'll see if it gets worse later on after a lot of use, if it just stays the same then all cool can live with that it sounds fantastic.

I notice the puck has a slight burr on it.

So the clunk is a slight click.... the fact that you saw fit to ask here suggests you are not entirely happy, so it may be wise to pop it back to your dealer and perhaps check it against their demonstrator. And if the puck's not right, ask for a replacement.
