Connections - 200DR, 202, FC2x

Posted by: Maughan on 24 March 2017

Hello all.

My current connections are:

1. CD5x Output ---> 202 CD Input, DIN-5

2. CD5x Upgrade ---> FC2x Power Out B, SNAIC-5

3. 202 Upgrade ---> FC2x Power Out A, SNAIC-5

4. FC2x Signal Out A ---> 150x Input, SNAIC-4

5. NAPSC ---> 202

6. 202 Tape ---> Headline

I am (hopefully) about to buy a 200DR to replace the 150x,  I will then use the spare FC rail to power my Headline (instead of my current iSupply).

Can you please explain how #3 and #4 (above) will change to accommodate this upgrade, including how to connect the FC to the Headline (using a SLIC, which I am also getting)?

(My understanding is that ##1, 2, 5 and 6 will remain the same.)

Thank you!

Matt

You are right - changes are -

3. 202  ---> Link plug back into socket 'Upgrade 2'. 200 connected via Snaic 4 to 'Standard' 4 pin output on 202.

4. FC2x Power Out A ---> SLIC to Headline

Thank you!

Have I also got it right that the "direction" of each of my existing connections is correct (ie the label on each cable is at the end closer to the first-named box)?  And for the two new connections which you have described for me, is the direction as you have stated it?

(It always seems odd to me that the "flow" in #2 and #3 is not the other way around, ie I thought the power would flow from the FC to the CD and pre.  Or am I misunderstanding what each box is doing?)

M - yes the directionality requirement can seem a bit strange but it's done that way for signal 'direction' as the SNAIC5 usually carries signal and power. in your case,  the SNAIC 5 to the CD5X is only carrying power as the signal is taken from the normal DIN output to the Pre.

Your SNAIC5 cable between FC2X should have the band at the CD5X end and the SNAIC 4 from 200 to 202 have the band at the 202 end.
