Editing albums on uniti core and songs ending short

Posted by: Redhammer on 25 March 2017

greetings to all, just taking the plunge into the Naim world with a Uniti Core yesterday which feeds into a MF NuVista CD for the dac. I seem to have two issues when ripping some of my obscure cds with no metadata how I manually edit cds and when on a playlist tracks are ending a few seconds short which is somewhat annoying. Uploading at moment via flac as per Naim recommendations if this makes a difference

Cheers

Thankfully only done a hundred or so, as yesterday the new update released has fixed the problem and even better I can now edit the cd details. The new version is excellent works a treat....so far

I would like to use the ripping facility, but i dont trust the rip process. The lack of any pass/fail status on the rip is a redline feature for me. I accept that UQ/HDX wasnt significantly better, but at least it had a log file I could grep for "fail". Core has no log file, and finding out 2 weeks later that the CD I ripped had read errors is not acceptable to me.

Jon if you are willing to check the ripping monitor after the rip has ended, you can see that there is (or isn't) a green tick against each track. The ripping monitor stays on screen until you dismiss it, unlike with 1.3 firmware. On an iPhone it's a second screen in the ripping monitor and you swipe up to get it, but on an iPad it's on the main screen. If you watch the monitor while its ripping, you can also see how far through the rip of each track it's got.

best

Yee I know all that. But I have had green ticks on tracks filled with read errors.  I have been running this code since last year.

And ripping shouldn't require the app to be open. Just feed in a disc. Come back later and put it back in the box. At least indicate an error: e.g. Don't eject the disc. Or flash the light. Or something.

It's annoying that you have to give such obvious advice, it's as if the people at Naim don't use their own (or anyone else's) equipment.
