A fond farewell to the best forum
Posted by: feeling_zen on 30 March 2017
I few may have noticed the number of my posts fell off a cliff over the past few weeks. It's not random. I have decided to leave the forum and the excellent folk who inhabit it.
Kudos to Naim and the members who made it such an entertaining place with fascinating discussion. In general I disdain at social networking and am a grumpy grouch that shuns Facebook and the like - the Naim forum being the only place, other than work related forums, that I have ever cared to spend any time in. And I certainly spent plenty of time here in the last couple of years.
However, it has been a while since I've had any value to add to the discussion. So much has already been said and by those who say it better. Alas, much of what I once knew from a few years in the trade in a previous millenium has faded or been remembered wrong. And there has been some who have been less than thrilled with my comments made here (warning: manufactuers do read these things and they are pretty good at figuring out who you are).
So I've decided to lay it to rest. I'll enjoy my system, and if chance permits continue my Naim adventure. But for now, I'll enjoy the music and work on raising my growing family.
I'm not asking Richard to delete my profile. I've dumped my profile contents but you never know; I may be back one day if the forum is still here. For now, it is time to simply wish everyone the best. You've all be a very entertaining, colourful, at times barking mad, group of fantastic individuals.
Cheerio,
feeling_zen

This seems a shame, FZ, you were one of the good guys.
Best, Chris

Far be it for me to appear flippant, but can I respectfully suggest you open another bottle of whatever it is that allows you to see life more clearly, Zen, and take a few minutes (or glasses) to reconsider ?
(you know it makes sense)

All the best... do please pop by every so often and say hello..

All the best. Perhaps you just concentrate on the music in the future and give us your view on what you hear. Talking about boxes is only fun for so long.....

Don't let the door hit you in the arse!

I'm glad you're not burning your bridges and still keeping open the possibility or returning some time - despite your expressed view, your contributions have be valuable and will be missed.
Au revoir!

As far as suicide notes go, I have read better.

I think if I was 'leaving' the forum I'd just stop contributing, possibly mid senten

After about 10 years of Naim ownership and participating in the forum, I chopped in all my Naim gear for Rega last year. I still inhabit this place although my contribution has dropped off a bit. Maybe one day I will have nowt else to say and will slowly fade away rather than being compelled for a dramatic good-bye.

Ray? And all this time I had assumed your name was Fred.
Posted on: 01 April 2017 by thebigfredc
Fred is my Dads name and my middle name. The letters are also all next to each other on a keyboard which is why I thought of it as my handle all those years ago.

I suggest you have a glass or 5 of your favourite tipple, and reconsider.....

I did enjoy reading the OP's posts, which were clearly well considerered and measured. And His disdain for "sodial" media like facebook I heartily recognise: the very terminology "social" is a misnomer in my view!
No doubt if Feeling Zen is inclined he may look in cooasionally, and if that happens something may stir him to contribute - otherwise at least we know his views as he leaves, whereas others sometimes just disappear, and you don't know if they've gone off in a huff, or out of declining interest, or if something untoward has happened to them.

I've never quite squared how someone can have a disdain for social media but like to use another public forum to communicate a view.
Anyway sorry you're departing Mr Z.
