555PSU stacking order & connection

Posted by: rsch on 31 March 2017

Hi all,

I have just took delivery of second a555PS DR for  CD555.  Of course with single supply now, i have both Burndies connected ( 2 bands cable to output 2 and single bands Burndy  to output 1. I don't remember which of two is the one serving the analogue section, probably the most important in hierarchy and the digital one.

The stacking order is as shown with (top to bottom) 555 ps, empty, 552 ps and  NAP500 ps do you think is this a correct order or do you suggest otherwise ? ( Mr. DB opinion would be much appreciated, assuming he's now well out of winter hybernation)

Regards

Ok, just found a DB thread so, i 'll leave the digital psu atop and the analogue down, the rest unchanged with 500ps on the bottom.  Plug order with digital one at the tail end of the distributon block.

Damn! I have to get out for work now, i' ll rebuild psu Fraim stack tomorow.

Well done. Do let me know if there is an audible difference.  I'm toying with an idea of two 555PSs on my NDS....

Morning Adam,

It's now switched on from yesterday morning

Firts impressions last night, have been really positive,  albeit i soon discovered that i exchanged the Powerlines plug order, even so, it showed more grip on bass, either on short notes (percussions) and longer bass lines, being also touch deeper too. Upper frequencies showed smoother voices (the soprano on "Alfabeto Songs" -Accent Records and Robert Wyatt - Old Rottenhat) Having sorted later the plugs order, my humble ears didn't notice particular differences, a touch more of dynamics perhaps. Again this morning with the above, Dead Can Dance Anastasis live, Lisa Gerrard and old Human League recordings, early impressions have been confirmed- a tremendous grip on bass a deal more of naturalness on voices, hence less listening fatigue.

Ciao Roberto

Thanks for the update. I will try to test my second 555PS on the NDS. Currently it's powering my CDX2, which I don't use much.

Enjoy the music,

Adam

Hi again Adam,

For the record Mr. Stefano Mazzoli of Suono & Comunicazione (the previous Naim distributor) used reguralry dual 555ps on demo either on CD555 and NDS, he always claimed that i's really a tremendous upgrade even if on paper sounds a little no sense

Ciao !
