Restoration of Nap 135's - At 30 years old - Not just for the Museum

Posted by: redalphabet on 11 April 2017

The 135's I have are getting on in age and are due for a complete cosmetic restoration, the case needs a new powder coat, the fascia is yellowing and needs replacement, the connectors around the back are all over 30 years old. Seeing as these are by far some of the best amps ever made; can Naim do this in addition to a service?

Many thanks in advance of your replies.

Have you spoken to AV Options ?

I would be transporting them with me back to the UK on a trip. So they would be in the UK.

Best contact Naim directly then (rather than through the forum). Nice amps so i hope you get them back to peak performance and cosmetic condition

I believe that Naim can fit new chrome bumper era fascias - I think that Darran at Class A was given permission to have some made up - and I think the XLR sockets are changed as a matter of course with a service.  As for the sleeve, IIRC Naim can clean them up but don't have the facility to restore the old finish. You would have to get it done yourself by a restoration specialist.

Darran's got 135 and 250 fascias mentioned on his site, I noticed them when I was booking my 135 service a couple of months ago.
