NAS optimisation

Just updated the firmware on my QNAP NAS and discovered that there were a lot of "media" and other default apps running in the background, none of which I actually needed as I just use the NAS for storing and streaming music. So I disabled the unused apps and was surprised that this resulted in a noticeable improvement in sound quality.  Be interested to know if anyone has had a similar experience.
