I understand why: I was there too, and didn't hear anything worth mentioning safe perhaps for the German Physics omnidirectional speakers and the Marten Designs. Focal speakers were powered with Luxman electronics (which I found weird, on a very personal level), and they sounded harsh, uninteresting and aggressive. Not a single Naim box, and the average look of importers and vendors was that of those guys who try to sell you the Colosseum when you visit Rome for the first time.

As for the Falcons, they were in a huge room, overpowered and completely out of context, and they sounded like a schoolgirl at a school party trying to sound like Sarah Vaughan without a microphone. As for the rest, a feast of NOS tubes, DIY mods to turntables, tons of vinyl and an average age of 65. What saved my afternoon was my companion, a nice guy, and the thighs of the daughter of a known audio importer whom I'll have the decency not to name. But boys, what thighs.

Anto, nothing personal, but it was depressing.

No problem Max, I can understand your disappointment even though I totally disagree with your depressed mood. In any audio show there is always someone who feels depressed but I never understand why it happens.
Did you hear the Grandinote Shinai? What do you think about it.
For the small Falcons with the Burmester, however, them were pleasantly amazing in that the huge size of the room, a great result.

Even the Gato Audio has been a pleasant discovery and I'm looking at the new Gato DIA 250 with dac onboard in a possible future replacement of my beloved superuniti

Max,

Perhaps it will cheer you up to know that the same sleepless guy (red eyes) was also in Chicago this weekend.

Do you refer to the skull preamplifier? It is high-design that encloses hi-end audio technology ; Metaxas audio system, For 20,000 euros for a preamplifier and  power amplifier they also give you a Latin proverb that helps you reflect while listening to music: Memento Mori (remember that you have to die)
This is the name of the sleeplees Guy , pre amp

I saw that amp with all the crappy caps exposed and the skull nonsense. I agree with what was said above the show was amusing and depressing. A lot of fairly mediocre sounding rooms with super fidley stuff.. I was nothing there that made me want to change my system in any substantial way.
