AirPlay streaming to Mu-so

Posted by: peterks on 29 April 2017

When playing music from my NAS drive, using the MinimServer, the "bitrate" can be displayed in the Naim app, e.g.  'WAV 44.1 kHz 2116 kb/s" (for redbook flac file being transcoded to WAV)

But if I stream using AirPlay, for example from the Google Play Music app on my iPad, no bitrate is displayed. Is there a way  to also display bitrate for AirPlay streams? Or does that not make sense?

Many thanks

I'm aware of no way to display the bitrate with Airplay – it would be a Naim App function and it seems they've chosen not to display that info unlike UPnP, as you have discovered....

But it would be largely worthless info anyway – Airplay streams everything at 16/44.1 regardless of the original source bitrate – so 'hi-res' is downsampled and curiously lo-res MP3 etc are upsampled for the stream.....

Many thanks SC,

your explanation makes perfect sense to me.
