Core and Naim App Updates ??
Posted by: SC on 03 May 2017
Just wondering if there is any further word on when (as well as the what detail) the proposed next main update for these will arrive, carrying the meta-data editing facilities and, ideally, 'more' (praying for increased tag fields and sorting options etc..!).............Hoping Phil and/or the key folk at HQ might be able to give a bit more info by now....? I've read and followed other related threads, but just thought I'd give a new shout out.....
I know we're in Naim speak and the initial 'mid March' date may well translate as December, but.....
With thanks, and fingers and toes crossed....
[I'm a US SSD owner and 'was' all set to get the Core after it was announced as I really thought/presumed it would improve some of the server/software side of things onwards and upwards from the US......But, in all honesty, I've ended up pausing due to the current software/firmware capabilities – and then of course the current situation re transferring 'Naim's own' existing US/NS/HDX rips.....Still fairly keen on the design 'concept' of the Core, but as the time elapses I'm beginning to wonder on where this is all going regarding end user functionality etc....Seems some decisions have already been 'set' at HQ.
Realise I'm just one current 'lost' purchaser – and it sounds like Naim are fairly happy with the sales figures thus far – but I suspect there will be a few others out there with similar hesitations right now......I personally still find it very strange why the decision was taken to release the Core with not just less meta-data function/editing than the model it replaced, but none at all......
Here's hoping the proposed update comes soon and does really advance the Core into much more of the rich server solution it could be......]

Does anyone know if the UnitiServe compilation problem has been sorted out on the Core?

It says I have the new 1.4 version, but I choose an album but cannot find the global options tab?
I'm not sure what you mean. What are you wanting to do to an album with "Global options"?

I think I know what you mean, and I've been beta testing this for weeks, but to be sure what do you mean by the "Unitiserve compilation problem"?

Sorry, not clear. The fact that it is impossible to edit compilation albums so as to allocate a different artist to each track, as you can in iTunes, for example.

I've just had a quick play with my Core and as far as I can see, you can edit the artist for the album, but not on a per track basis.

On the naimsupport site the global option was the first part in accessing the album metadata. If not how do I start the process of editing once I choose an album
thanks

HaHaHaHaHaHa.......! Welcome to my world......
But hey, it's a 10yr+ work in progress.....
jH listed some other software bugs & issues in the main Update post – apparently they'll be "fixed in the next update " .......It's like Groundhog Day.......

You select the album. Then touch the three dots icon ... on the top right of the screen and a drop down list appears. Metadata editing is one of the entries in the list.
You have to have the new version of the IOS app as well as the new firmware of course.

it says my firmware is up to date, which i dont think is correct. Id tell you what version it is, but it doesnt make it obvious. Sigh.
@jon honeyball If you still had the beta app installed and installed the new app over the beta, you have to "update source" to Release. Then I found restarting the app gave me the option to install the new release firmware immediately.

doesnt work if you delete the beta and install the release version. There is no "update source" menu any more.
I might have beta still on my ipad. I shall check.

it would be help if someone could post what the firmware version is now. 1.4.6801.0.0?
Posted on: 05 May 2017 by David Hendon
You can always reinstall the beta certificate, but anyway if you deleted the beta then you don't need to worry because the release app will offer you the release update.
But you can easily check what you have: go to the Core page in the app, go to Settings and About. "Application" should be 1.4.6904.0.0
If it isn't then you aren't on the new release firmware yet.

Our posts crossed. I think you still have beta firmware in your Core....

The release update does *not* offer the release update.
Yes, its completely screwed. Almost certainly my fault for walking from the beta program last week. But my core is now locked in limbo land.
Sigh.

Jon
The beta app is still there on TestFlight.

David, I have the latest iOS software, but metadating editing does not appear. I have unplugged the core etc , but no difference? Suggestions welcomed
Posted on: 05 May 2017 by David Hendon
Or you will need to get one of the Naim guys to update the beta server to offer you the release firmware.

What version of firmware does your Core have? You can check by looking in the Core page of the app, Settings, About. Then application should say 1.4.6904.0.0
if it says 1.3 something then that is the problem and I suggest you restart the Core and the app and check for updates again.
hope this helps

Good! They have more knowledge than me!

All I can suggest is restarting your Core and your IOS app then. It should work.
if not then I suggest email support@naim or they may pick it up anyway from this forum stream.
This is probably a daft question but when you select the album you want to edit, you are in that album with artwork, track listings etc? And it's the top ... and not the bottom ... you select?

Thanks. I'm baffled why this hasn't been fixed, on the Core, at least.
