Phil

I'm a bit of an agnostic when it comes to the Royals, but today's news that the Duke of Edinburgh is to retire from public life (he will be 96 next month) was quite sad I thought.

Prince Philip is absolutely hilarious - his  gaffes and gritty grumpiness; not to mention his "unique" sense of humour, have added to the gaiety of the nation over the years, and I for one will quite miss him.

"Yak, yak, yak; come on, get a move on,” he shouted at the Queen back in 1994 when she was chatting to someone while on tour; "it looks like a tart's bedroom" (on seeing Andy & Fergie's new house); "I wish he'd turn the bloody microphone off" (muttered during a Royal Variety Performance, while Elton John was onstage).

And I am led to believe from things others have heard, though strangely not caught by BBC microphones, his spoken vocabulary includes words so short that the Queen probably had to ask what they meant when she first heard him use them...

I always warmed to the rumours in the press that he would swear alot.Made him less rigid.Must be a tough one your missies wearing the boots.....or Jewell's in the relationship.I am with Kev with the Royals.Seem ok people. What can they do,there born into it and it's been going on for centuries. Its all pretty bonkers. But they back it up with it brings money in with tourism etc.

Princess Margaret was rocking..... Gin and tonics, fags, coke, dossing around in Mustique, boyfriends...... not doing her duty..... brilliant !      The Kate Moss of the Royals.

Always liked Fergie come to think of it.She always came over as good fun

Where do they find these sycophantic bum lickers? Jennie, (fawn, fawn, lick, lick.) Bond is another one.

As a result of Phil "retiring" at 96 Tory government will raise retirement age to 95 in the next parliament.

I once did a job where the Queen was naming a cruise ship. The royals had arrived and were about to sit down when the Canon Choir overheard a fellow lensman telling his desk, 'I can't believe it, they're going to start without Kay Burley'.
