Linking TV to QB

Posted by: surreybee on 08 May 2017

Hello there

I have the QB.

It is linked to a CD player by optical cable.

I have  HD Technica TV.

The TV only has HDMI and USB ports. There is no HDMI on the QB.

Can I pay tv sound through the QB on an ordinary USB cable?

Thanks again

I think that if the TV does not have an optical audio output, you won't be able to connect it to the QB.
With the optical output, you would have to unplug the CD player each time you wanted to connect the TV.

The USB port on a TV is usually only for playing back video or photo content stored on a USB drive

You can get an optical splitter, marlin sell them for £15, not sure how good they are. But you would just have to switch between sources instead of unplugging?

I assume there is no analogue audio out either?  No headphone socket even?

Not used one, but you should be able to get a "HDMI ARC to Analogue Audio" (or to Optical if you prefer and don't mind swapping cables or using the switch) from Amazon or similar.

Finally, what CD player, would that connected to analogue (and TV to optical digital) be an option?

Many thanks all for the time you have taken - apologies for the delay I have been away. I want to keep the cd linked to the qb. I think I will let things be for the moment and then try and remedy by upgrading the TV at some stage.
