N272 future updates for firmware

Does anyone know if it is possible for Naim to update the N272 streamer to include chromecast and airplay in the future, if so, are they planned? This would make it competitive again with the new uniti series, in terms of streaming capability.

Chromecast almost surely a no, based on a post I think from Naim back when the Unity range was announced. Airplay, maybe but I would think that it was added from the start if it was the plan, but pure speculation on that one.

The new Unitis are very different from the existing streamers, so I think you'll have to wait for new models to be released.

Updating a system with a 272 to use Chromecast is dead easy...

wait for it...

Buy a Chromecast Audio and plug it in using an optical 'cable'!

I don't think the platform will support it. Unless they do something like Linn and offer some kind of system or streamer board replacement. An outboard device connected via digital is probably your best bet.
