NAIM App

Posted by: Tonyleek on 15 May 2017

Hi, apologies if my question has already been answered, and in which case perhaps someone can point me towards the answer. What has happened to the Queueing function ? The only option presented when I select an album or track is 'play now'. I can no longer add the album or track to the playlist, and on that subject, what has happened to the playlist options ? I am using the NAIM App to operate a Muso with music stored in flac format on a NAS drive. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I think I know what it is. Have a look in Settings - Other Settings  and turn on "Tap for options".

Yeah I second that

Hi,

Set 'tap for options' as suggested, but no change, still only seeing 'play now' but thanks for your quick response.

You really do need to enable tap for options. It seems that the option to add to queue only works in the screen view with the picture at the top and the tracks below, rather than the other option. Have a play and you'll find it.

May least, that's how it works on my iPhone.

Yeah I'm a little perplexed with the updated Naim app (Android) too.  I use it w/ my Mu-So and I can't find the 'shuffle' toggle when playing Tidal anymore.  Any ideas?

@tonyleek - are you using the Android app? I recall that when I had a Sony phone, the Naim App (Android version) would not allow me to tap the three dots [...]. It drove me bananas. People on the forum insisted I was pressing the wrong button. Not until another Sony smartphone user posted about the same issue, identifying Sony's implementation of Android on the phone as the problem, did I regain my sanity (and bought an old cheap iPod to use for Naim App purposes only).

So, and I appreciate it may not help you resolve the problem, it may be that the issue is to do with the way in which Android is implemented on whichever phone you have.

As it happens, I too have a Sony device running Android 4.2.2, and Tap for Options works fine on that.

Sorry - should have made clearer - this was a couple of years ago and I was trying to offer a possible explanation for Tony's current problem. I'm not seeking to make any comment about current Sony phones or the current Naim App Android version.

(Nice to know that Sony sorted the issue out, but a bit too late for me...!)

Now I think about it, this was an issue with the Naim Android app. They fixed it in an update about a year ago.

Hi,

Very many thanks to all who have tried to answer this. Yes, I'm using the android app, on a Google Nexus tablet, which was fine until the last update. Tapping the 3 dots next to an album or track on an album, used to offer a choice of play now is acetone playlist, but now doesn't. Also, the playlist management functions ( e.g. clear playlist) have also disappeared. I've emailed NAIM support direct, but they are also saying I just need to tap the 3 dots to see the options. That's what I'm doing, but to no avail.

Tony, it sounds like it may just be a version of what I had with my old Sony phone (ie, something to do with how your device manufacturer implements Android). But not being able to use the App as you used to (particularly if streaming is your main source) is deeply infuriating. Maybe [@mention:1566878603985147] can look into it for you?

I decided to re install the app and start again, and that seems to have resolved the problem. Good to know the old adage 'switch it off then switch it back on again' still works. Thanks everyone for your input and help.
