Issues with external 8tb drive and Uniti Core

Hello, fellow audiophile!

I bought a Uniti Core with an internal WD red, 8tb drive and installaed with no issues at all.

Indeed, the external USB drive (Porsche Design P'9233 8TB) won't start the formatting procedure. I tried all the format kind, but none of them work. The formatting procedure simply hangs and doesn't go forward. The drive on a pc or mac works like a charm. An 2tb external hard drive work on the Uniti Core

Have anyone else tried an 8tb external hard drive? Support from Naim Audio simply told me it should work...

In my experience LaCie external drives have horrible reliability. I've owned several and only the SSD-Thunderbolt didn't die within a few months.

I know this is unrelated to the topic but I just don't trust Lacie's products.

I have 4 tb Seagate USB drive (la die are owned by seagate) and have found that it can be a bit hit and miss with the core recognising its attached. With some patience and unplugging I usually manage my back up.

I found formatting an internal drive is a bit hit and miss too. With my SSD I found the formatting with the WAV setting, which presumably isn't anything to do with formatting at all but you choose the way you want rips stored in the formatting screen, just hung multiple times but when I tried with the FLAC setting it was fine and then it allowed me to format it again for WAV.

I don't suppose this helps at all. If you can't get it to work then don't be fobbed off by Naim support saying "it should work" (you already knew that so it wasn't very helpful of them!) and report it as a bug using the feedback system in the app.
