Melco N1ZH

Posted by: robgr on 31 May 2017

I have a found a thread titled 'Installing MinimServer on a Melco N1' at http://minimserver.com/install-melco.html
Is this be applicable to the N1ZH, has anyone tried installing MinimServer to an N1ZH?

Also, I have Twonky installed on a separate NAS and for which I can manage via a web interface at http://192.168.1.161:9000/
How can I manage Twonky on my N1ZH?
I have tried http://192.168.1.171:9000/ but to no avail (.171 is the IP of my N1ZH)

I've MinimServer installed on my N1Z, just followed the instructions on the MinimServer Forum.

Thank you Tonym. I'll give it a try. In the meantime I've learnt that Twonky can be managed via port 9050.

Presumably, once you've got Minimserver sorted, you'll be able to forget all about Twonky?

hey tonym,

there is not a lot of naim users with melco. I read that you use the melco with chord dac in usb. But you have also the nds.  Can you say me why you don't use the melco with nds?

I know i am out of the topic, but it is just one question....  i am interested by the melco.  thanks

Hi Pierre, I don't have the NDS, just use Melco direct via USB into the Chord DAC. I've experimented with various digital options but this combination works the best in my system. I'm very pleased with the Melco, it improved on the sound quality from my previous Mac Mini, optimised for audio, and there's no networking complications. I've just bought a copy of Song Kong which has been modified for use with the Melco. It worked its way through my music files & corrected all the metadata.

Hi Tony - just had a look at Song Kong and it looks very interesting - how have you found it?

I have bought PerfectTunes from the makers of DBPoweramp and Asset but it is rubbish - hardly fixed anything!

Hi Pev, I left it running through my (roughly) 800Gb collection on the Melco yesterday morning. It shows a running log of all the corrections it's made & produces a report at the end. My music was reasonably well ordered but it corrected a whole load of music files; took about twelve hours. Looking through today it does seem to have made a good job of things. I've also got JaikoZ, which is more of a manual affair, but that works well too. You get a ten quid discount off Song Kong if you're a Melco owner. You can download a trial version.

Thanks Tony, I'll give it a go.
