Regardless of volume control setting?
yes, at low volume it must be right...but not very fun...
On what do you base that assessment? The physical size and appearance of a speaker is no indication of how it will sound, in any size room, no matter how disproportionate it might look in any given setting.
As for shaking the windows, any speaker that goes deep enough in the bass will do that if turned up enough (especially if the windows are loose and single glazed...

perhaps i am wrong, but these focal are high frequencies speakers and are very close to walls and windows. I would be very surprised if they can sound without distortion at high/medium volumes. In any case something seems wrong to me when i look at them in this room. But perhaps i am wrong ....
I can't decide which I dislike most, the room or the speakers
Talking about shaking windows ...

The same would apply to any speakers in similar position with reflective surfaces nearby causing early reflections muddying the sound, other than that the more directional a speaker the less energy in the reflections.

I was wondering when I posted that picture that some bright spark may think it was my own system. They are truly horrible and only really suitable for a dedicated listening room where all semblance of taste and restraint are suspended. I suspect though, that those with pockets deep enough would have such a room.

You mean it's real? I assumed you had photoshopped enlarged images onto a photo from a budget-hotel carpet catalogue! I didn't realise that Focal made such grotesque loudspeakers.

I'm sure someone thought it'd be a good idea to build them.

Such a feat would be beyond me. Truth is often stranger than fiction.
I would love to own $20k+ speakers, among many other luxuries. But against all purchases, there are tradeoffs (i.e., opportunity costs). Travel and other experiences that cost money, a secure retirement, the ability to financially support family, friends and some charitable concerns, are just a few that comes to mind.
For those who want (and can afford) high-end audio, I say congratulations! And please feel free to share pics and reviews here, where many of us can live vicariously through your purchases!
Crikey, those Focal speakers are truly ghastly.

I rather thought that as well, as it is hard to imagine them deliberately demoed in such a small grotty hotel room with deliberately low ceiling to overemphasise their height.
And I have to agree that there are far less ugly speakers in similar price bracket, though how they compare in sound I have no idea. Of course, if appearances are important they could always be screened by a Muslim curtain...
I don't understand why owning $20K+ speakers constitute a challenge while so many members here own amps and pre-amps that cost more than that. Now, it would be something completely different if we could identify a sane bright individual who uses $20K+ worth of cables. The beauty of it is that they could easily fit even in a small room.

Virtually all high-end muscle hi-fi is: oil-rig TTs, huge heavy amps with grips and heatsinks, piano black gloss speakers the size of wardrobes... Krell, Mark Levinson amps, Wilson and Focal speakers, Vertere and TechDas turntables. All crimes against good taste. Chord's products, as good as they are, are also offensive visually - fortunately most of them are small enough to hide away.
Once upon a time, high-end hi-fi was good-looking: fluted afro LP12s, olive Naim, Meridian, Marantz Nakamichi, B&O, plus classic 70s kit from the likes of Sansui, Pioneer, etc.
Not all expensive speakers are ugly, nor are all huge, though they do tend to be on the large side (related to the physics of reproducing full range bass).

my system costs around 75k but my speakers only 6k....my room is not very big and i prefer to have better electronics than speakers : they disappear more easily.

i must confess that i have not really understood the goal of your topic.... "who own 20 k speakers ?": what do you mean: you are curious about the expensive speakers of members or you ask if it is worth spending more 20k on speakers or who , in which system, use speakers more expensive than 20k...? maybe i don't understand because i am french....
It's more likely that you do understand, but that the thread is pointless and/or meaningless. As to why I posted the picture of the hideously overblown Focals should be blatantly obvious.

The carpet is very disagreeable too
