Yes it was a very enjoyable afternoon, the LP12 dem room was the clear winner. Peter showed customers the latest LP12 upgrade that he can fit. The speakers sounded excellent, and i had an enjoyable chat with Derek.

Yes,

M69 traffic delays aside, it was a very informative listen . Very classy looking speakers. Preferred the Klimax/606 room myself (as did Mrs L). Didn't  get to listen to 707 via LP12 only via Naim streamers though as was end of the day.

Mind you they should sound good at £9K and £13K per pair!

Great presence and detail with good musicality too.

Well I had a very enjoyable at Rearsby yesterday. It was great to meet Clive B and Mr Kudos Derek Gilligan, and catch up with the Cymbiosis team.

As an introduction to the junior Titans the event was extremely effective with both systems performing well and giving an insight on the speakers' capabilities - and they are very good. As a Super 20 user I was very keen to hear the 606s, on the basis that their respective sizes are not too dissimilar.

They certainly sounded good. The bass in particular was impressive, deep but very controlled and clean. But it felt more of a presentation than a performance, and I didn't really get drawn into it. Maybe it was down to the play list we had created which was rather eclectic or perhaps the digital source or my complete lack of familiarity with the Linn Klimax Katalyst source and the Linn amps.

The problem for the 606s though was that the 707s next door were simply amazingly good. They were more real and captivating. But I suppose they should be. It begs the question as to how the 606s would sound on a Naim amped vinyl playing system and of course they are still in a pre-production state so may well change. I would like to find the answer to those points, but I think that I'm already a bit in love with the 707s.

I can only echo what Chris has said, above. The 606s did present a soundstage well beyond their relatively compact size, but I was always aware that we were listening to them on the end of a system which was all new to me. That being said, they did image well and produced a very enjoyable sound.

As Chris says, the trouble was that in the room next door Peter was demonstrating the 707s on the end of a Naim 552/500 system with a Klimax LP12 front end connected with a Chord Music interconnect! This was one very well matched system, which simply delivered great sounding music. We played SRV, Yello, Roger Waters, Miles Davis, Nils Lofgren, London Grammar and others I can't recall, all of which sounded so right.

Although I still enjoy my NBLs very much, the 707s would certainly be on my shopping list when the NBLs finally need to be replaced.  I think they have to be heard.

Peters dem rooms are nothing special! It is the products he has in them! Saturday afternoons are interrupted by a gardener cutting back the hedges!!
