300 Time?

Posted by: mattchup on 13 June 2017

Okay, I've been on a bit of an upgrade kick lately.  I've added an HDX, DAC, and 555 PS Hi-Line to my 252, SC, 250.2, NBL's.  I also have an upgrade LP-12 but with 2 kiddos (8 week old and 2 year old), my turntable isn't seeing a lot of use.  I've seen a couple non-DR NAP 300's hit the used market for about half of a new DR version and thinking about taking the dive.  I've read a lot about the 300 but have never heard one.  A 500 seems like the perfect fit for the NBL's but I think the 300 would pair better with the 252.  Open to suggestions or thoughts.

Thanks,
Matt

252/300 is the perfect combination. Also at half the cost of new, it'll be cheaper to get it recapped/DRs a little down the road.

Agreed 250/300 works very well and the dr upgrade on the Supercap/300 when you get some time back in your life is worthwhile too.

Enjoy

Non DR 300 works much better than a 250.2 with NBLs, particularly although by no means exclusively if you are listening at any kind of volume. A more than worthwhile upgrade given current second hand prices.

That was my experience when using them with a 252.

Can't comment on the non dr 300 but having recently upgraded form  a 250dr to a 300dr I can honestly say that it is the best upgrade I have ever made so well worth it in my opinion especially if carry out the dr upgrade at a later date.

I'd echo these sentiments - I went from a standard 300 to a 300DR a couple of years back and have never looked back. I  also agree that the 300DR works well with a 252/Supercap DR combination. I may go for a 552 one day but cost and staying married are significant factors!

i ran hdx/ndac/555non dr - then dr'd into 252/300 with harbeths and then kudos titans on the end.  i dont know your speakers but the electronics are a sublime combination i imagine they will sing
