Nac 82 phono cards

Posted by: ndx202- on 14 June 2017

Just put the boards into the amp and hooked it up to a k9 on a AR TURNTABLE . It sound nice but volume has to be at 10 past to listen at a reasonable volume.. Am I better off putting the line boards back in and getting a decent phono stage.. Sounds great but just quiet..

Any help appreciated

Yes. Even modest priced modern phono preamps better the boards imo.

[@mention:68018561433936067] The lower than CD volume level is normal, I believe. Can you confirm that it is the 522 'N' type phono boards you have fitted....?

I have an 82 with 522 N boards fitted - and a CDX2. Yes, volume is lower on LP vs CD, but not a problem, IMO.

Had a 82 and LP12 the TT volume was  always lower particularly so compared to a CD player nothing to worry about.

The phono boards in a 82 are very good.
