This I am interested in.

Anyone care to try one out for me? I'm not changing it until I have a spare 2k to blow.

i bought recently the chord signature tuned array for my sme5 arm, and find it very good. No brightness or edginess,  soft and fluent, dynamic too. very natural in one world. I imagine the sarum t is a big step over mine...but with the same natural sound.

Hi KELER PIERRE

yes, I also have the signature TA on the end on my EKOS SE

and yes it is very good

Would love to try one of these.    What would it take to break it in?   Does it come in BNC to the Superline?

With apologies for diverting the thread but cabling was used on the Aro?

Posted on: 09 July 2017 by Skip

I have tried to get some of the ARO cable through AV Options, but without success.

I have contemplated asking Peter Swain to re-wire my Artemiz with Chord Sig but it's impossible to predict the end result.

Cymbiosis.

Peter Swain is the "go-to" guy as far as LP12s are concerned. You're pretty much assured of getting the absolute best out of whatever spec turntable you have. Despite the mileage, I wouldn't trust my LP12 with anyone else.

ok, didn't know....i have sme 20/ sme 5 turntable...

Plonked the sarum super array in tonight

i was hoping for lots but kind of expecting to put my bats ears on and spot little differences

i was wrong on both

this isn't a subtle upgrade, it's at least or if not more than my journey of 3 x sarum speaker cables

its early days yet, these things tend to enjoy a couple of weeks to get all the electrons facing the right way

first off, there's more of everything again, the extra bass is perhaps most noticeable along with a greater sense of realism

another big one is the level of micro detail being retrieved, this has a massive impact on the overall picture

i wonder what would be better: kandid cartridge( made by lyra) with sarum t tonearm cable or lyra etna?   same cost for the two.  I would say etna, but who knows...

Heard an Etna tonight and even on an LP12/Urika it sounded pretty good.

Funny you should say that, many years ago, back in the days of the Arkiv I did think of changing to a Lyra Titan ( now is still sold as a Linn Kandid )

at the moment my cartridge is only 1 year old so the cable makes more sense although next time round I'm thinking on the lines of Atlas or possibly Etna

I did a Linn Akiva / Sarum Tuned ARAY on Urika v Linn Kandid / Linn Silvers a while ago. The prices don't stack up as such but the cost to change to STA or Kandid were similar.

I didn't actually go for either at the time - but it would have been a difficult call.

Chris

its my understanding that's there's a considerable difference between Sarum tuned and super array

the super array is something very special but it can only deliver what is fed into it

the Akiva is very good but I would think logic dictates a kandid or above before £2k+ for a tonearm cable

the same principle applies across the rest of the components

i certainly wouldn't be doing a full loom sarum super if I still had the briks

my plan after the cables is to replace the preamp - there is only 1 choice

then the same with the power amps, once again only one choice

when it comes to replacing the kandid I will be looking somewhere higher up the Lyra range than the Titan

i don't know what is your choice to upgrade the phono amp. For me it would be tom evans groove srx, or pass labs xp25 for solid state.  For tube, perhaps conrad johnson tea1,  audio research reference 3, or ypsilon phono( but too expensive).

Posted on: 12 July 2017 by lyndon

Didn't mention the phono amp

the pre amp that I will be upgrading to is 552

i read too quickly....For myself, on my experience, the phono preamp upgrade is the most crucial and with the best impact on sound quality. i talk for myself. but i am not in the subject here, i know

Agreed on the phono stage but I'm already using a superline with cyro z and supercap dr
