Hi Cap DR

Posted by: ndx202- on 18 June 2017

Hi am thinking of getting a Hi Cap DR to power my Stageline purchase.

I have 2 questons..

Does the DR regulator board need servicing every 7-10 years like the older Hi Cap .. I know that the main resevoir caps will need doing as usual but are there any tantalum caps on the new Discrete regulator board..

My second question is well making my decision on my new Hi Cap ' will the Nac 82 power the MM Stageline  ?

If so which socket do I it plug in to ? . If not what do I need ??

Thanks all replys appreciated..

The 82 cannot power a Stageline. It can have internal phono boards fitted, which should be just as good.

Yes they are that good I have parted with the Stageline

That's good - one fewer box to worry about. I've always found the Stageline distinctly underwhelming. The Prefix was the best though, fitted into the LP12.

I have always found the Lp12 a little hard sounding apart from the early ones with no upgrades that were reasonable with an ittok arm... I agree the Stageline seems no better than the 522/4 Boards ' which to my ears sound bigger and fuller and less hard edged.. Even using it with the Hi cap which the 522/4 will do as part of the preamp.. Yes less boxes is a bonus ....
