272 connection

Posted by: stuart on 21 June 2017

I have on loan a 272/250dr. Just connected it up but cannot find a connection guide anywhere for these two components - everything but. I have two din to xlr cables in the box one orange Rose  and one green L. I have connected the green L cable to the analogue preamp out of the 272 into the. Xlr input of the 250.

Result only one chanel working. Have I connected it incorrectly or have I been given the left and right din to xlr cables from a 300 possibly (which the 250 was sat next to at the dealers??

...hmm think you just need din to xlr sniac stereo - just one lead...... from memory mine was grey. 250dr only takes one xlr. Have you tried the other lead perhaps that is stereo.........

You have the pair of 300 mono leads.

Thanks Richieroo

I have two black din to xlr. BTW sounds very good with only one channel working

Whoops, wrong lead.

Thanks HH I thought that might be the case. Will have to wait until tomorrow for a proper listen.

Just checked and my 250DR came with a single black cable.  Seems if you have one channel working  maybe try the other cable?  I'm in the US, btw.

Tallan I did think of trying that but don't want to risk causing any damage.

You won't cause damage - just the other channel will work instead. As HH says, you have the mono cables from a 300 / 500 instead of the stereo wired 250 cable.

Yep, exactly the cables I have with my 300. Looks like someone demoed the 272 with a 300 and mixed the cables up.

You got the cables just need the 300 now

The cables come with the power amp not with the 272; someone mixed up the power amp interconnect cables.

So, somewhere, there's also a NAP300 which can only be connected for one channel!

Just out of curiosity I checked my new last week 300DR and both cables are black - again here in the US - and were labelled L & R on the little "source end" wraps Naim uses.  I was hoping for a PowerLine Lite, which I didn't get, so maybe this is older new stock.  FYI.

I thought they had green and red markers on them, but I can't check mine as they're packed away (I made replacements using Mogami W2549).

The ones I have do have red and green markers on them.

The Stereo DIN-XLR is black and will have a white band.
