No-Naim Phono Stage and Supernait 2

Posted by: Leon di San Marco on 23 June 2017

Hallo!

to which (RCA) socket of my Supernait2 should I connect a no-Naim Phono Stage? I've heard that one shouldn't use Aux2, since this works only with a Stageline or Superline.

By the way, I'm planing to buy the iFi micro Phono2. Does anybody of you Naimers know it?

Thanks!

Marco

Any line-level RCA or 180 degree DIN inputs will work fine.

Thank you Adam! What is a 180 degree DIN? I do have an RCA to DIN cable which I used with my former CD-Player, before I got the CDX2. Will this work?

180 degree din is a plug / socket of a DIN type where typically 5 pins take up only half of the 'cirle' (half of 360 is 180 > hence the name).

Yes - you can use an RCA > DIN cable to connect a phono stage to your SN2.  DIN is always a preferable connection method. That is how my Rega Aria is connected to my SN2. A cable is a matter of personnal preference.

The following sockets can be used: CD in, Tuner in, HDD in/out. You could also use an AV socket provided you disable an AV bypass.

Great, thanks again! So you have a Rega Aria...are you happy with it? Once I thought I would take that too but then I read on the manual instructions of my Shure V-15 III that this cartridge sounds at its best when 400-500 pF are given. One of the few Phono Stages that offer the possibility to set that value is the iFi Phono2, on which, by the way, I heard very enthusiastic opinions.

It was an easy choice for me - started with Rega RP6 / Exact II and now using Rega RP10 / Aphelion. Aria works well with both.

It is a trully great phono stage.

I'll back that up, I have an Aria too.
