Naim DR'd pieces: any difference?

Posted by: milesT on 24 June 2017

hi Naim friends

is there any difference in functionality or sound quality for a Naim device that would have been DR'd later by Naim vs an originally DR'd piece?

thanks!

The only thing I would check if buying an older amp/PS that has been DR'd is that it has also been serviced/recapped where necessary. Most will take the opportunity to have these older units serviced at the same time as DRing, but worth checking, as DRing will not compensate for an older unit that is in need of TLC.

Otherwise there should be no difference.

I assumed 'no' and put my money where my mouth is (8K of it!)... I bought a DRed 300 and a DRed 555!

Both work really well, but not having 'native' DR versions for comparison I can be absolutely certain there's no difference (and I'm not going to pay another 15k just to find out!).

You definitely made a wise decision.... I'm sure they both sound superb

[@mention:48872963983698699] thanks, can you please clarify what TLC means?

Surely everyone knows what TLC is? Tender loving care.
