A fond farewell to 200 - hello 300

Posted by: antony d on 25 June 2017

some 16 years ago I purchased my first couple of NAIM CD5 & 200 from a highly repected dealer in Leicester

changed the system around a lot over the years but the 200 remained - moved from CD5 to CDX2/XPS then downgraded to Unti but still with 200

I can't praise my dealer highly enough for the advise - guidence (and invoices!) over the years they say NAIM is a journey, well to use that metaphor " whilst the journey may not be over I am going to sit on a bench for a while and admire the view"  - LP12, NDX, 282, HCDR, FRAIM and in a couple of weeks 300!

single HCDR - not minded at the moment to add another - might look at SC in future and move the HCDR to power Stageline

love the 282 - moved from 202  couple of years ago,  really added detail to system

the 300 is really come on song now - it's like the 200 older sibling who has been to Uni and got a first, when I get it DR'd 300 it should get its it's PhD

Sorry I missed your question. I had a hicap with that set up. Bought is all in bulk so could not afford to go higher at the time. I later added a Supercap but much much later which eventually went on the 252 replacement. Hicap was switched to the stageline at that time.

I live in Leicester, sadly there are no longer any HiFi retailers in the city? There is a dealer outside of the city called Cymbiosis, I guess that is who you mean? They have moved to a place Rearsby, which is a few miles outside of Leicester. Please see there website for further details, if you travel to Leicester you will be disappointed, as i am living here. https://www.cymbiosis.com/contact/#findus

DJH yes correct Cymbiosis, I have always used them - brillant both technical & customer service - Peter & LP12' enough said

its a round trip for me of about 2 hours,  last time I was there spent about 4 hours with Phil & Wayne

couple of other greats out of Leicester - Tigers for rugby and Everards Beer! both make me happy
