Still Love FM

. . . via NDX-FM, while rebooting my router.
Simple pleasures for simple minds.

I am with you Nick. Internet radio, so good and so much fun it can be, cannot bring the rare impression of fullness that FM breathes.

Your topic title seems misleading to me. Aren't you listening to DAB/FM on an NDX? The FM I think of is the one Steely Dan sang of "no static at all" with an analog signal.
FM music is still my primary everyday listening mode commuting in my car, but the stations' SQ have become horribly compressed in the last 5-10 years, haven't they? Extreme boost to the bass. Even the voices of DJs and on commercials have my car's subwoofer booming constantly. I have to cut way back on the bass and subwoofer for FM then completely readjust the audio controls when I put in a CD. I find the best time for FM listening is late at night when the commercials are minimal and local stations play 20-30 minutes of music without an interruption.
Great to hear it, Nick.
Best, Chris
It's hard to beat BBC Radio 3 on FM and I use it on my Superuniti in my office all the time, although the recent trial of FLAC which is supposed to be restarted for the Proms showed that there was an even better way.

100% David, BBC R3 is a bit special on FM (NAT-05 in my case), I have to add that for some transmissions iRadio BBC HLS HD can sometimes cut it a bit better; I always run a short sound test to hear whats better, but I invariably go to HLS for jazz. FLAC is coming back for the proms according to the www blurb & I'm really looking forward to that, I am however crossing all fingers & toes that they have audio sync'd with TV.
I was really just smugly enjoying FM while the network was offline. The ability to do so with the NDX-FM was nice.
I have said before that the FM capabilities of the NDX have exceeded my expectations.
We occasonally get the BBC Proms on KING FM here in Seattle. Unbelievably beautiful. Sad, in a way, that they are such a revelation to me, at 56. But, I am grateful for all revelations.
