NDX or Supernait issue

Posted by: dickey on 01 July 2017

From one day to the other I cannot get my NDX sound through my Supernait anymore. I have done nothing strange with it, maybe my son pressed some buttons but that shouldn't do much harm. The SN is still working because when I plug in something via the front aux input it just works. The NDX also seems to work because the display shows that it is playing internet radio or music from the NAS.

So either the NDX is not sending a signal or the SN is not receiving it. I have checked some settings and cables, but I have no clue why it doesn't work. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thank you.

How is the NDX connected to the SN? Digital or analogue?

I'm using the NDX's DAC so have connected it via an analogue DIN (?) cable.

Ok. In the 'analogue outputs' menu, is din selected?

DIN is indeed selected. I have tried Cinch and DIN + Cinch, but it didn't make a difference.

Have you tried other din sockets on the back of the SN?

Not yet because the kit is in a closed cabinet that doesn't have rear access. I'm afraid I will have to build everything out and test it outside the cabinet.

Yeah maybe. Have you tried switching them both off for a few minutes and re starting them?

Have you checked the System Automation settings on the NDX i.e. that Preamp is enabled and that Streamer is set to the correct Preamp Input.

Posted on: 01 July 2017 by dickey

Yes i did initially. They have been off for a week because they didn't work anyway. Tomorrow i will build them out and try some stuff out.

@Sjbabbey, I will check that now.

Preamp is enabled. Streamer is set to input 1, the rest is off.

Before you do that check the system automation on the NDX to see if the primary output is via the analogue (I'm typing from memory now so not too sure about the actual name of the function).

This morning I built out everything and installed it outside the cabinet. Still didn't work off course. Then I changed the audioquest DIN cable for the standard one with no effect. Then I plugged it from CD in to Tape in, no effect. Then with the SN still set on Tape I plugged it in the AV in and suddenly it worked! So it looks to be an issue with the SN, but at least I have sound again

Could this be a setting issue or should I have it checked by the shop?

I noticed I read the labeling wrong. Next to CD in is Tuner in. When SN is set on Tuner with cable in Tuner in, then it works. Same with Tape. AV does not work, maybe cable should be different for that, same with aux 1/2. So just the CD in is not working then.

Put the SN in programme mode.

Press pre on remote. Hold down prog key till volume control on SN flashes. Press CD on SN. Check to see if AV record button is illuminated. If so, press it to extinguish it. Hold down prog again on the remote and the cd input will now be in analogue mode.

Thanks Finkfan! That works.

Now I have to build everything back into the cabinet. Good opportunity to clean it first
