Neat SX1

Posted by: Big Ears on 05 July 2017

Hi just bought a used mint pair opened the box which had a few corners crushed and the plinths are chipped from impact ?? I cant beleive that neat does not have any protection around the plinths and there is only foam and card on the bootom of the box but the top has shaped foam ??

Or have these been shipped incorrectly?

Thanks

Gary

Why not ask Neat directly? (I'm doing HH's job now, but he needs some rest)

Quite, and thanks for the help!! A question about Neat's packaging is hardly one for the Naim Forum. With a Supernait I'd be looking at better speakers anyway, so it could be a good opportunity for a refund and to start again.

Mmm... Obviously one for Neat to answer. When I unboxed my Neat Motive SX2s I could not believe how well packaged they were, I mean, they were a box within a box and foamed in both boxes.

This does not sound right...going from your description.

£2k speakers, generally regarded as a good pairing with Naim gear - surely not a bad match if the OP likes them?

I had a pair for a home demo for a week, sometime last year...I thought they sounded terrific fronted with my 272/250 dr.I was surprised at how much bass they output, over here in Canada, speakers are normally placed a couple of feet from the walls. One thing I do not remember,is what the packaging looked like, but I think it was done well enough to avoid any damage in shipping.

I absolutely love my SX2s, in fact they blow my Credos out of the water in every single way!

Music has never sounded better, I can only imagine just how good those SX1s are going to sound on the end of your Supernait.

Great you got it sorted.

The Motive 2 was always better than the Motive 1.

Jesus HH. You'll reply to about anything here, experience or not, constructive or otherwise, and attempt to manage decorum, won't you?

Possibly, but I won't be rude to other members.

From what I can gather (and I may be wrong of course) the SX2s were designed for small to medium sized rooms and the SX1s are for much larger rooms. Anyway, their real magic is in those wonderful tweeters, the rest just falls into place.

Happy listening

Thanks to everyone and sorry if I offended or posted in the wrong place that was not my intention

I have had issues with neat speakers. Bought a set of iota units to work with my uqute and one if the speakers had a bad score down one of the faces.

emailed neat a number of times seeking help and also asking if they could provide spare enclosures, but could never get their Custer advice to reply to any emails

Don't be daft. It's a perfectly reasonable question to ask on here. Neat and Naim go well together and as a consequence there are quite a few Neat users on here.

Glad you got it sorted with Bob

The inside of some speaker boxes have large uncovered staples. If there is inadequate packing eg polystyrene the veneer can get  damaged if not removed with the utmost of care.

Just thought I would update the thread. My original comment was in relation to no customer support as they had not replied to emails.(long ago)

well I have to say guys, this has taken a major turn.

it appears that someone on the forum knows or has contact with neat, and made them aware of my comments.

i have been immediately contacted by someone in Neat and after a few emails explaining the history, they have asked me to return the speakers and they will replace the cabinet free of charge, and note, these were bought in 2013.

now I was not looking for any such action but have to say the way the company has actively sought to contact me and provide a solution is far and beyond any expected customer support.

i take my hat off to these guys and must let people know that good business is alive and kicking with Neat.

well done guys and many thanks

I have to admit that I was a bit puzzled, reading both your and the OP's posts, concerning poor support from Neat.

I've dealt with them for some years now, over several different models of speakers, and have always found them to be more than willing to go the extra mile, Sergeant Bob most definitely being one of the good guys.

Anyway, good to see that matters have been resolved, and confidence in Neat restored.

In my experience Neat have always had excellent customer service, I was going to ask if you purchased the speakers from a dealer or from the second hand market, they would be able to advise if the speakers were packed properly in the first place before getting shipped off, but glad to hear Neat sorted out the problem!

I have a number of Neat speakers myself and I love them very much - I have the Neat Petite SX in my bedroom powered by NAC82/HiCap/250 and I don't think I can ever change them into anything else
