As requested by Steve (Paper Plane) on the 16/17 thread, here's a new one for 2017/18. All leagues/divisions welcome.

Come on you Irons!

An enjoyable Merseyside derby. Liverpool could and should have won it. Lovren? What a needless penalty to give away. Klopp needs to get some better central defenders.

As a Blue, it was a very nerve-racking watch! I thought we were overly negative and should consider ourselves very fortunate to get a point from the game.

Yeah. A good point for your lot, Vlad. Big Sam looked pleased at the final whistle.

Gutted with a 1-1 with Bob's lot at St Mary's. But as soon as I saw Giroud as a sub on the team sheet, I could see it happening, and it did.

The message for Saints has to be bury your chances. We should have been three up in the first 15 mins. And even then, didn't take chances late in the game.

MDS, if you are reading this, a Charlton mate tells me they were saving themselves for their Christmas party in Newcastle on Saturday night! Charlton fans less than delighted with their performance yesterday.

Yes, Chris. I'm never far away from this thread

Before our game at Charlton I wasn't at all optimistic and would have been very happy to have snatched  a point. So I was particularly delighted to get all three. Even missed a pen.  We're now just one place below the play-offs and Kenny Jackett is gradually shaping the team but to be honest we're miles off the standard necessary for the Championship so I'll be happy with a top half finish in League One this season, allowing Jackett to continue his work.

Back to your lot. I didn't catch the game on TV as I had to be out and about but knew you were 1 up and got home fully expecting that to be the final score. Then I discovered the result and wasn't quite so surprised when I saw who scored the equaliser. That guy has a very strong record for coming off the bench to score. I quite rate Giroud.

Me too, but apparently not Wenger who won't start him!

Loving our performance against the Rags in their "Theatre of Dreams" Good to see their supporters go quiet and not get behind their Glorious United  when Otamendi put us 2-1 up......the 3000 noisy neighbours where in good voice....ha ha !! and Jose's usual post match lame excuses.11 points gap best City team in years.Cant see to many dropped points but so far so good.Hope we get Sanchez in January .....nice !

Thanks for the link Chris.

A reference to the tunnel incident no doubt and the milk thrown at him by someone from City.....can understand where our crew our coming from just won the biggest game of the season at there's... euphoria is going off the scale and you have Mr dour face in your dressing room.I think Edison wasn't having it with what Jose was saying to him and it would be fair to say he wasn't welcome in there.

I am in Bluemoon heaven at the moment.....well all season.......Peps one hell of a manager... he's made them so hungry in a way Pellagrini never quite did.Sad when it was Pellagrini's last match as he was a really humble guy but also excited about Guardiola coming in and this season.....Wow !!

Another gritty performance, and a point against The Arse. Almost pissssed off we didn't win!

I'm beginning to warm to Moyes...

Nice City win at Swansea

Guardiola called David Silva an absolute beast of a player in post match interview !

Saints dismal at home to Puel's Leicester with a 4-1 loss. Dubbed 'a night to forget' on Saints' website.

Away to Chelsea next....

The revival continues, so it seems, with a three-goal thrashing of the Potters away. I was also amused to see Spuds get completely taken apart by City.

While City are looking invincible at the moment, and I wouldn't rule out them doing an 'Arsenal' and going the whole season undefeated, the relegation battle is looking really interesting. Palace and the Hammers looking in real trouble only a few weeks ago and now.....almost easy peasy!

Ok Swansea look very weak but Newcastle & Stoke fans must now be getting really worried. A real roller-coaster of a season.  Great viewing for the neutral (my emotional interests rest in League One) but must be nerve-shredding for the clubs' fans.

Really great the improvement with West Ham and wasn't expecting much from Moyes but he's turn it around nicely.Just like Woy at Palace has.

Another emphatic City win.Brilliant the way KDB shut those Spuds up with his goal 3 mins after Deli's horrible tackle.Dani Rose isn't looking all that great I didn't think.

Just spotted next weekend's fixture: Hammers at home to Newcastle. Wow, that's a big one! And Newcastle have got Man City at home the day after Boxing Day.  Could be a grim Xmas for the barcodes.

Swans sack Clement. Somehow boards never look at themselves.

How the board thought it was acceptable to not replace their leading goalscorers sold in the Summer, is beyond me. Lions led by donkeys, to use a phrase.

I couldn't make it too the match tonight and had to watch at home but so wish a I had even though we were abysmal at the back and all three of Liverpool's goals took deflections those three goals in under four minutes by Sanchez, Xhaka and Ozil must have taken the roof off the Emirates, brilliant. Two points lost though and we are still in need of a defensive midfielder who can hold his posistion and defend it isn't rocket science protect your back four and defend!

On the train at the moment going to City - Bournemouth can't see us dropping points but never complacent with City.Think we will take them apart though.Looking foward to getting the drinking going with my mates I am meeting there with the City faithful and plenty of singing.....oh the joy ......been looking forward to today all week.

Looked like a great game for the neutral, football was the winner etc etc.

Two points dropped this afternoon by Saints at St Mary's but a professionally satisfying day's work on a personal level. There may be trouble ahead with Spurs and Man U away before the next home game against Palace on the 2nd....

Top day at City - Bournemouth great day out and a brilliant atmosphere in the ground.United drawing made it even sweeter.I am hung over and just about got a voice this morning but what a memory

Wishing all the football season posters a very Happy Christmas - enjoy !

Thanks Ian, and to you and all other footie fans here.

I think it was going to go only one way at Dean Court   :-)

There are lots of things I like and respect about Liverpool FC but Virgil van Dijk going there is not one of them. Citeh, Barca, Real, Hamilton Academicals all would have been fine   The world record fee for a defender is almost neither here nor there. But let's see Saints use it.

Posted on: 28 December 2017 by Tabby cat

Chris,

Good business for Saints with Virgel Van Dijk.I think he always wanted to join Liverpool and work under Klop.Whats your reasons for not wanting him on Merseyside ?

The cash for him should buy them some good players.

Looking great for City now - can't see them throwing away a 15 point lead especially with United being so inconsistant but.......nah ! its not going to happen

Klyne, Lovren, Lallana, Mané and Oxlade-Chamberlain, though the latter via Arsenal.

Some wag on the BBC site has suggested Liverpool might as well buy Saints and call it the Liverpool Academy.

Blue Moon fever very understandable and I wish City well.
