Football Season 2017/18
Posted by: Kevin-W on 11 July 2017
As requested by Steve (Paper Plane) on the 16/17 thread, here's a new one for 2017/18. All leagues/divisions welcome.
Come on you Irons!
If Saints follow their usual practice, Carrillo will have a good season or two then you'll sell him for £80m or so, Chris.

Very droll Mike.
Swans 3 - 1 Arsenal Shocker !!!
Yes, Chris. A massive result for the Swans. Second in a row. Maybe they aren't doomed to relegation after all.
And Palace will be happy with a point away to WHU.
Not much to say about the Huddersfield v Liverpool game that I've been watching on BT TV. Liverpool have looked very comfortable all game.

Massive, as you say, Mike. And corresponding massive pressure on my lot
Your lot will be fine, Chris, but I can emphasise with you worrying. It is the lot of footie fans to be pessimistic when viewing their own club's chances.
Massive game for Southampton tonight with Brighton.Hope they get the three points.Brighton can't score but can defend.
Well pleased with the Swansea revival with Carvahal he's got them believing again.
City at home to W.B.A .....City home win is my prediction but I am a little bit biased.
West Ham was a good result with Palace especially with their injuries at the moment.Just grinding out the points.Good work Hammers.Think United will win against Spurs.
What a stunning result for Bournemouth at Chelsea this evening! When was the last time Chelsea lost at home 3-0, I wonder? Well done you Cherries.
Spurs 2 Man U 0
Love it

Thoroughly deserved, too. Spurs looked in complete control from start to finish, no doubt helped by taking the lead straight from the kick-off.
3-2 away at the Hawthorns, we Saints needed that. Especially after conceding the first after four minutes!
Great Saints win Chris well pleased for you.
Kev you must be gutted at your boys at Brighton.I thought at 1-1 things where going to be okay but...both clubs needed the win but maybe the seagulls more.
Guardiola well pleased with Citys performance at Burnley.Stirling should have buried it but thats Raheem for you.Just needs that clinical edge.

You did, indeed, Chris. As much for the boost it will give to players' confidence as the three points.
What on earth has happened to Chelsea? Another stuffing tonight. It all seemed so good for Conte last season.
Should never have sold Matic

Now whatever happened to him, I wonder?
WRT Chelsea, I believe there’s a consistent disconnect between owner and team manager.
This spills over into broader, workplace life and I can’t help feel that some of the board e.g. Marina Granovskaia and Eugene Tenenbaum don’t help the club to be a happy place with their somewhat brittle personalities and brutal management style. The likes of Bruce Buck and David Barnard cling on as part of the old guard but don’t have any real power imo.
I just get the impression there’s little in the way of joy working there, whatever your role in the club.

Well I see from today's Press that Conte is safe for the time being. Glad to see it. I think he's a welcome addition to the Premier League and by all accounts a really nice guy who always has time for fans when they approach him when he's out and about.

Yes, we were very poor Ian.
Kev,
Watford at home tomorrow is going to be interesting especially there demolition of Chelski.... nice ! There going to have alot of confidence.Hard to call - I take it you will be going ?
City at home to Leicester is going to be lively.Expecting a home win.The players have given a break from training this week as they where getting a bit burnt out.I think they where back training today. It was great Pep substituting Stirling after he missed that tap in away at Burnley after 2 mins....
A great North London derby result
steve
You are not wrong there Steve!

Kev ,
Nice West Ham result with Watford......30 points now....it's looking good for you Hammers.Hernandez is showing great form and Arnautovic man of the match.Really pleased with Moyes work there. Will he be staying ? Am I right his contract runs only to the summer ?
Loving City yesterday .Sergio Aguero on fire his final goal was awesome....even Stirling didn't miss another sitter after 4 mins like he did with Leicester he so needed that and 20 goals so far this season.....I am in Sunday morning blue moon heaven. When I think where we where 20 years ago and how The Rags where winning everything and where we are with Guardiola and a squad of gifted and some world class players - playing with belief and as a team.Champions Leauge next week away to Basel looking forward to that.

Hi Ian, it was a good game, and Arnie was fantastic. Moyes seems to have really gotten the best out of him. That was Chicharito's third goal in four games, so he is looking like he might live up to his potential.
The Moyes situation is a bit unclear, with some saying that he will leave at the end of the season, regardless of whether we stay up or not - typical of the Dildos, to be honest. I hope he stays, he is doing a very good job.
City imperious yesterday.
