Football Season 2017/18
Posted by: Kevin-W on 11 July 2017
As requested by Steve (Paper Plane) on the 16/17 thread, here's a new one for 2017/18. All leagues/divisions welcome.
Come on you Irons!
A mate of mine who writes on Saints for a living says that if they don't beat Kev's lot at the weekend it's deep trouble. I'd sort of worked it out ;-)
Massive game Kev and Chris - Hard one to call.I hope one of you is a Happy Easter Bunny at 16.50 tonight or !
City away to Everton at 17.00.Hope we get the points then its the Rags at home and if we win that the EPL will be ours....
Catastrophic, in a word.
Dire against Newcastle.
Dire for the first half against Wigan
Dire today.
Well, at least there’ll be more games to watch for the cost of next year’s season ticket.
Arnie! We love you Arnie!
Like Wise Kev - Always enjoy this video of Pep on the pitch with his players. The passion, motivation, pride in wearing the shirt he gets out of them.Who wouldn't want to play for a manger like him.I don't think my boss would be giving me a hug.....nuff said !
Pleased your Hammers got the points and Brighton lost at home to Leicester.
Chris - Hope you stay up but your run in.is going to tough
Chelsea 1 - 3 Spurs
That I like.

I made the mistake of watching MoTD. Weekend spoilt.
The BBC has just reported that former England and Chelsea player, Ray Wilkins has died at a London where he was being treated following a cardiac arrest. Ray was 61 years old.
Sad new indeed.
I remember him with affection as he was in the Chelsea team Boro' hammered 7-2 in 1978 or 79 which was on Match of the Day and I was a ball-boy at.
His nick name was the crab as he always passed the ball sideways.
Really quite young for a former athlete to die though presuming he didn't smoke and drink to excess.
Very sad. Well liked in both his stints with Chelsea.
R.I.P. Butch.
Yes. Very sad new about Ray W. I always liked him as a player and latterly as a pundit. As calm and cool off the pitch as he was on it. I remember seeing him play at Highbury on a Boxing day when he was very young e.g. also playing for Chelsea that day was 'Chopper' Harris! Even at that yongu age he looked a cultured and destined for big things.
Very sad indeed; RIP Ray.
I fondly remember an incident many years ago, during an England game, when the ball went out & Ray, in a hurry to keep the pace up, rushed over to the sideline and shouted at the ballboy. Unfortunately, a BBC microphone happened to pick up “Give me the F*cking ball!”
What a sad new!I remember him playing In San Siro for my favourite team Milan ac with Mark Hately.Very sad new.RIP
Superb defensive performance by LFC in the second half after Salah went out. Have not seen MC frustrated like that all season! Would not be shocked to see MC turn the tables and win the series at home, but it will take their very best effort.
Sad that LFC’s great win was tainted by some idiotic fans tossing bottles at the MC team bus.
Liverpool were just sensational in that first half last night. MCFC were completely snuffed out, and looked completely shellshocked after that second goal went in.
They certainly were. The pace Liverpool played at was stunning. I thought they were going to become a bit gung-ho chasing a fourth and risk conceding a potentially all-important away goal but showed good discipline in the second half. Shame the result has been a bit tainted by some of the fans attacking the Man City bus. Will definitely be watching the second leg buy which time City may well have confirmed the Premiership.
I've just texted a Saints mate to tell him about my new word for this week: gegenpress. I told him I hoped we might see some of it at the Emirates tomorrow. He reckons Saints are a bit more Elderflower presse.
Great result for Liverpool in the Champions Leauge last Wednesday they deserved it.Pep should have played Stirling and told him to silence the Liverpool boo boys.Gundohan looked lost.KDB is a bit off the boil at the moment. The coach incident must have unsettled the players a bit.Still no excuses.Simply outplayed that night. Our record at Anfield is woeful.
Hopefully beat those horrible Rags later today....Come on City
Can't see us winning in the Champions Leauge with Liverpool second leg.
What a fantastic Manchester derby. Listened to it on the radio. I wonder what odds you would have got if at half-time you tried to place a bet on Utd coming back to win? What with Liverpool's stunning performance mid-week, these two game serves as a wonderful examples of how crazy, brilliant and utterly compelling football can be.

Truly a tale of two halves! Pogba’s header was a thing of beauty.
To put into perspective, all MU’s win did was to delay MC’s claim to the title by a week or so. But Pep did also make a comment about how a win today could help create momentum in the second leg versus LFC. We’ll see.
Both LFC and MC (in the second half) looked tired and beatable today. Will be interesting to see the lineups for Tuesday.
As a City supporter it was painful at full time, especially with what could have been and who had just beaten us at home.I bet it made those horrible Rags season. Can't see us winning against Liverpool in The Champions league either.Although we will win the League at some point.

You'll definitely win the league, and deservedly so. Tuesday will be very interesting. City are capable of blowing away any team and Liverpool have a flaky defence. An early goal and nerves would likely set-in among the Reds and their supporters. So there is room for hope. But if Liverpool get the first goal the tie is pretty much decided.
What an entertaining weekend of football!
Congrats to WHU on getting a point away at Chelsea. Best I’ve seen from Joe Hart in a very long time!
Yes Hart is back playing and so too are Welbeck, Wilshire, Henderson.
Just in time for Southgate to pick them for Russia and to ensure that we have a proper miserable World Cup.
