Augh.

Really?

Altho, it's apparent that Trump is grooming their kids to the politics alla Joe Kennedy.

If it isn't an indelicate question, is Ivanka actually all real? I had the impression some bits of her might not be.

She is a nice looking woman, I would vote for her .

I would assume that anyone females in a public office over 30 have something done to their face. Looking good on camera has tremendous advantages in the US politics.

It wasn't her face that stood out as probably enhanced...

(Not-So-)Innocent Bystander ;-)

From what I have seen of Ivanka Trump, I believe her to be very classy, smart, and a very good (confident) speaker.

If I can return the shot, I would say no matter your politics she far outshines any female the left has in its stable to offer:  think Hillary 'the future is female' Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, Elizabeth Warren, Nancy Pelosi, Rosie O'Donnell, Madonna, Ashley Judd, Cher, Gloria Steinem, Margaret Sanger, Michael Moore...

Actually, if I was a lefty Democrat, I would want the screaming woman who would bring so much joy to the White House.  I adore her.  (Note to Self:  This really would go great in the Liberalism - Gone Mad thread as no one believes me yet that I'm on to something here

Oh. I haven't noticed.

But she's got a beautiful pair of gams.

Doug,

You've forgotten the biggest of all celebs.

Is she one of the celebs who declared to move out of the US if Trump was elected?

Save

Liberalism - Gone Mad:

The wave of celebrity U-turns was led by Madonna who abandoned a promise to perform sex acts on men who voted for Clinton before the polls even opened.

It is not known if anyone has complained about their disappointment to the multimillionaire liberal singer, 58, over her volte face.

Kuma - You're right!  I forgot about Barbra and Whoopi too !!!

List of liberals who claimed they would leave the US if Trump won:
Amy Schumer
Lena Dunham
Whoopi Goldberg
Samuel L. Jackson
Cher
Miley Cyrus
Chloe Sevigny
George Lopez
Larry Flynt
Ne-Yo
Bryan Cranston
Omari Hardwich
Natasha Lyonne
Chelsea Handler
Barbra Streisand
President Obama
Jon Stewart
Neve Campbell
Barry Diller
Keegan-Michael Key
Al Sharpton
Eddie Griffin
Spike Lee
Amber Rose
Raven-Symone
Omari Hardwick
Ruth Bader Ginsburg

ok so. Did any of them leave?

Posted on: 02 August 2017 by Florestan

Kuma,
From what I read none of them left after-all.  Even Obama said he might jump off a cruise ship if Trump won.  Why don't these people keep their word?

If you look at the dailymail.co.uk link its list gives the wealth of each of these celebs.  These same people live in their mansions in a walled compound with security guards while claiming that illegal immigration should increase and then support sanctuary cities.

Posted on: 02 August 2017 by Florestan

Liberals - Gone Mad?  Why did Madonna offer to have sex with anyone who voted for Clinton and then apparently didn't follow through?  Why did the others in this list claim they would leave the US if Trump won and then didn't.  These liberals lack credibility and seem to tell a lot of lies?

I guess you'd have to ask them. Do they even read this thread? Or are you trying to infer something else?

Daily Mail's might have a point.

They'd better stay for Trump's proposed tax cut.

Don't think we've got that issue with female politicians in the UK

How do you know Madonna hasn't? And it may take even her a while to get round to them all...

Re the list of people, do you know for certain what was meant by "leave the USA"? Two possibilities occur to me: 1) Emigrate permanently - that would take many months, possibly years, to find somewhere allowing them to settle, and sell up and move everything, so the fact they haven't gone yet doesn't mean they're not. 2) Leave for the duration of Trump's reign -  can you be sure none have done that? Some may have additional homes elsewhere, and visit USA only for whatever might be needed to maintain citizenship until Trump is gone and they can return

Not sure what you mean by liberals? In England there is a Liberal Party in politics, but I don't think you have that in the US? As a general descriptor the term means to me someone who is open-minded and free from prejudice, yet you seem to see the description as negative, both here and in some posts on the Trump thread.

Breaking News:    Wall Street Journal report says Robert Mueller has impaneled a grand jury to investigate Russian meddling in the 2016 election. They say the grand jury has been working on the matter for weeks & implies that Mueller's Russia investigation is stepping up.

What does this mean?  WSJ say grand juries convene before any charges have been filed in order to determine whether charges, or an indictment, should be filed. It indicates serious felony charges are a possibility.

Innocent Bystander:  I don't know personally but I just take the article at face value and they say Madonna abandoned her promise ;-)

I also agree with the "liberal is someone who is open-minded and free from prejudice" definition would be nice if it were true today.  From my perspective and experience, I don't see this as an attribute of liberals today (for the most part).

Think of the "Woman's March" this year after Trump's inauguration.  You would think that by this definition that being open-minded and free from prejudice means that a Woman's March would be open to ALL women.  No, it was only open for a certain kind of woman who fits in a liberal box.  I mean they will say that Ivanka Trump wearing a light pink dress was an affront to all woman's liberation.   This is far from open-minded or free from prejudice, I would say.

Having conservative views leads to liberal leaders referring to the "basket of deplorables" or others saying the "middle lump who is 40 years behind...."  etc.  And these are the nice comments.

Is it even slightly possible that some of what I'm saying has some merit?  Maybe not in the UK but in North America it is risky to mention you have conservative leanings in a mixed crowd.  Is it surprising that this may lead to the question of has Liberalism gone mad?  Again, I don't want to imply all Liberals.  I am talking about what seems to be the majority though.

@Florestan it’s true that not all liberals are as liberal as they might claim to be, but that doesn’t mean that liberal values are bad.  A liberal society is something I believe we should still be working towards and while there are pot holes which have caused frustrations the more liberal, open and tolerant we are the better the world will be.

Tolerance does work both ways, but that doesn’t mean that as a liberal I have to tolerate intolerance and discrimination towards others.  Equally tolerance doesn’t mean that I won’t challenge your views.

PS. I think Madonna’s “offer” was made in an attempt to be humourous and those saying they would leave the country were making political statements.

I would slightly alter your definition... their decisions and actions are free from prejudice.  I believe as a human we are all subject to internal prejudices, they are part of our base instincts.  But what is important is to try to ensure those base instincts don’t affect our decisions and actions.

Well, if this is humour then I give up.  Can you imagine if you have kids and would like to teach them why it is important to vote or a kid that has just become of age to vote and you have to explain why Madonna's statement (no matter her intent) is just plain sick and morally bankrupt?  OK, I'll ask again.  If everyone has the power to know the difference between right and wrong on their own then how do you explain this one?

Is saying, "I have thought about blowing up the White House" or others "someone should assassinate the President" humorous or political or something else?

Posted on: 03 August 2017 by Innocent Bystander

Madonna's professional life has been riddled with outrageous statements and actions p, every one of which would be challenging to explain to an innocent child - it is her trademark - and this is No different, and I doubt anyone at all took it seriously (and I include you in that doubt, though perhaps I am wrong...?)

Perhaps “humourous” was the wrong term.  Her typical outrageous self and not intended to be taken seriously.
