Asset R6 for Linux & RPi

[@mention:1566878603961650] Hi, A new version of Asset R6 has just been released in Beta & one of the main changes is that the folder icons are now in PNG format and can the background colour changed.
Would it possible for you to output your icon library directly into PNG format, with transparent and/or selectable backgrounds.
Also, you very kindly prepared a top-level icon for my Asset on RaspberryPi - this now doesn't look good with a background, would there be any chance of taking a look at that again.
I think we had got to a 500x500 resolution on the icons for max detail.
The Asset on RaspberryPi, I have at 340x340
Thanks, Simon.
Hi Simon, thanks for the heads up on the new version of Asset - I wasn’t aware of its release.
No problem, I’ll have a look at new PNG versions of the icons, likewise the upstream Raspberry Pi logo too. It will certainly be interesting to explore what can be done with a transparent frame around the main icon. Although a little grace will be needed as i’m headlong in a work and a DIY project, hence I’ve not been on the forum as much as I’d like - plus my search for new speakers has decidedly stalled!
Leave it with me
Simon, can you confirm whether R6 now supports multiple separate instances of the server running on a single platform e.g. for separate instances running rock/classical to allow for bespoke meta browsing views.

Just checked the beta forum. I see that the new Linux beta version has a new collections (named as "instances" in the main screen) to provide this new separate libraries feature.

Marvelous - what I have done as temporary measure is saved all the JPG images for the folders, in PNG format, so that they are picked up by Asset R6 and are displaying fine on a black icon background in the black style setting of the Naim app.
But I don't think this is providing correct PNG format information re transparency & I know it can be better, just I don't have the graphic design tools or knowledge to make it better!
The upstream one for the UPnP server is completely screwed, so may need a full redesign.
Tonight's job is to see if the rescan initiated last night has finished on the Beta, as it introduced a new medialibrary folder under .dBpoweramp. Then whether Playlists for New, Most played, Recently played work in the same way as R5 and my desired tree structure works.
i prefer to work with 'Album Artist' as the main folder, as for me and my metadata, this groups by Band, Orchestra/Conductor and displays Albums underneath. I can then use the filter capability to narrow the selection.
Thanks, Simon

Yes, the new release introduces the ability to present more than one UPnP server to the Naim network player, from the same device.
So, I imagine you could separate your library into Genre with different Tree browser structures, with Orchestra, Conductor, Composer, Style (Opera, Chamber, Orchestral, etc) to Rock (Band, Genre, Period).
Or a different server instance for different supported players, if one player wants DSD as DoP, native FLAC, MP3 etc.
Need to consider whether that is required, as my Library is well tagged and other rooms are served from a Roon Core, as the NDS is, over a UPnP Bridge product, but sounds better directly from the UPnP server. Why, don't know, as it should be bit perfect, but that's the nature of high-end HiFi, sometimes things just don't make sense, but just sound better, so don't argue!

Simon I have written about this several times on the forum before and previously published timing charts on the beta forum... actually technically it makes a lot of sense .. I have found the inter frame timing of the media transfer (frame jitter) causes a different sound presentation on current Naim streamers. This timing consistency does vary from different server app / OS / hardware combinations and has nothing to do with being bit perfect which everything is...
Just put the post on the dBPoweramp forum, re Message Tree's which provides the folder structure displayed in the Naim App.
Hi,
Try this message tree https://www.dropbox.com/s/iv239rtazk...reev6.txt?dl=0
I made some changes back on Asset R4 for use in the Naim app (which was n-Stream at the time) and that it will provide the A-Z indexing, it assumes you are using the 'Up Stream Artwork' for all items (see here for the setting file https://www.dropbox.com/s/vktw4l7p7t...rtFor.txt?dl=0)
So, the changes I have introduced are the following:
1. Remove the A-Z listing for Artist / Album view, so this view directly lists all Albums arranged by Artist alphabetically, allowing you to select using the touch-sensitive A-Z bar on the right of the size. I have retained the A-Z listing and the ability to search by letter in an Advanced Search view.
2. I have introduced the Album Artist view at the top level, without the A-Z selection, so this views directly lists all Albums arranged alphabetically using the Album Artist entry in the IDtag. I have retained the A-Z listing and the ability to search by letter in the Advanced Search view
3. Remove the A-Z listing for Album view, so this view directly lists all Albums alphabetically.
4. Remove the A-Z listing for Title view, so this view directly lists all Tracks by Track Title alphabetically.
I have the usage based folder, namely the 'New', 'Recent', 'Top', 'Least' types in the Additional folder.
I have also updated the customized folder icons to the PNG format that R6 uses, see https://www.dropbox.com/sh/f80iku318...FqtI8nqMa?dl=0
So, with this Tree Structure and icons, the home screen on my iPad Mini 2 looks like this:
The Additional menu is then:
and the Advanced Search screen is:
Please be free to use the Tree Library structure and the icons if you wish.
I am now adding custom icons for Artists at the top level for the 'Album Artist', rather than just use an Album cover provided by the Upstream Artwork function. In Asset R6 you have to upload additional images, so, for instance, see the images for David Bowie, Dave Gilmour, David Gray. David Sylvian.
Now, I think this task could take a while, as there are potential 2,500 artists in my library (according to Roon).
I would use Roon, as that interface is way better, just a shame there is no native Roon support and the bridge product doesn't sound as good as the UPnP server.
Thanks,
Simon.
