Peter, I've moved this to the Padded Cell so the link can stay in place.

I think some of the prices quoted are a little bit out.  I think you could sell a boat load of "grey enamelled" Garrard 301s for £800.  Three times that amount for the early 301 is perhaps more accurate in todays market.

[@mention:1566878603906177] - I have regarded my HiFi system as an 'investment', since the 80's....! My Linn LP12 cost me - just checked - £340, in 1981. My Naim 250 was £822, in 1985. Both are still with me - albeit both are now Grandfather's Axes, having been upgraded and serviced a number of times.

So, that was £1,162 well spent...?  I could not afford the buy either of them now......!!

A couple of months ago, I decided to have a play with old stuff, to reminisce a little. Bought some Leak Amos and tuner kit and also an old dansette(for furniture appeal).

Good fun playing with them, and the Leaks are nice, but a bit of rose tinted glasses really, compared to current stuff.

dont get me ring, there is good old stuff out there, but 50 year old electrical items are still 50 years old, with all the crackles, groans, etc

a bit lkemyself really!
