Qobuz prices for ECM albums
Posted by: hungryhalibut on 14 July 2017
I get most of my ECM albums from Qobuz. For ages they have been about £11 for standard res, and £16 for high res. I've just had a look on the website and standard albums have jumped up to £13.99 and over £19 for high res. It's a big jump, and a lot more than the movement in the £/€ exchange rate. Oh well, I'll just have to buy fewer albums.

i recommend you "highrez audio" for ecm, they have a large collection. about 17 eur , so around 12GBP maybe.
And the fundamnetal question is: why can't ECM enable downloads from their website?
One can buy LPs and CDs directly.... which I do on some occasions.
Well yes, that's another question altogether. Hyperion and Nonesuch do it, and many others I'm sure, and it would make perfect sense for ECM. When they revamped their website I was hoping they would, but seemingly not.

If only!! At current rates 17 Euro is about £14.90 - sodding Brexit has cost me hundreds of pounds already and it hasn't even started.
I was just looking on Highresaudio for a Mathias Eick album. The site says that it's not available in my country, yet I can but it from Qobuz. All very odd.
Which album are you looking for, I see them as available on my HRA
It's his first ECM album as leader - 'The Door'.

It shows "Sorry, this album is not published yet. We are updating our release dates twice a week. So, please feel free to check from time-to-time, if the album is available for your country". But it was released in 2007/8, so I guess its not worth checking 'from time to time'
When I change my VPN to Germany or France with HighResAudio it shows it as available in 24/96 @ €21 (£18.39) (Qobuz version is 16/44) 'FindHDMusic.com' shows it as only available in 24/96 at 2x locations in USA at $24
Maybe time to get a VPN (Hola is the one I use)
For ECM the prices on pro studio masters and high res audio are normally a bit better. In the first day of release it happens very often that Qobuz makes a pricing mistake for ECM - so in the early hours you can sometimes have a good deal.
Now 15% storewide on High Res Audio, so also good for ECM albums....

I bought an album from them today, the latest Carla Bley. Going in as if I was in the UK and the site said it wasn't available. So I used the VPN and bought it as if I was in Germany, and no 15%. It's a good album though.

You should use the code code Sales2017
Silly me! I blame the bang on the head. I'll have to buy something else and try to get the discount, so I learn how it works. It's all helping my German.
